Have you ever regifted??

I have not, but I know I have received regifted gifts!

Two friends of mine recycle gifts to people like their kid's teachers! Candles and lotion stuff!

No way!

I bet if I received a bunch of stuff like that I would, but  gift cards solve that issue. I know Mz feels gift cards aren't personal enough. And if I know someone has something they really like, its not a problem, or if I know its something they will really love, I'll go get it ( and then hope no one else got her the same thing).

I guess it depends on the relationship of who is giving a person what. If its say a bottle of crap booze from a well-meaning co-worker, I'd regift that to somebody I know with a drinking problem who would think its the best gift in the world....

No, I don't think gift cards are inpersonal. I buy plenty of gift cards for birthdays. Or if I won't see someone for Christmas and have to mail their gift, I have no problem buying a gift card. But if it's a setting where people are unwrapping gifts, I feel like everyone should have something to unwrap and marvel at or play with. When everyone else is trying on their new sweatshirt or playing their new CD, I don't want the person whose name I drew to just be sitting there with a peice of plastic.

There are times when I should've regifted, but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Ahhh....that is exactly what you said. I see! Here I totally agree. Come to think of it, the gift exchange at work would never work if gift cards were involved. It would totally take the fun out of it!

Yes... I consider it for the greater good - less junk in my house. It also means you have to be more cognizant of what people give you... so you don't accidentally give it back to them! One person's junk is another's treasure!

It started simply enough, with a White Elephant gift exchange at work - once you start, it's hard to give it up. This year the gift definite to be regifted is a Winnie the Pooh mug set with cocoa and marshmellows. Who knows? Chances were it was regifted to us - by the time someone actually opened it those are probably going to be rockmellows.

I haven't regifted but I got regifted this year.

My sister-in-law got a bottle of Merlot and she doesn't like red wine so now it's my wine and I'm sure it will make me feel fine.

I don't believe I've ever regifted.  I have been regifted to, but with full disclosure to me.  The mother in law of a friend of mine gave her a ceramic rooster clock for her kitchen.  We call this particular friend "Martha, Jr."... the gift was totally inappropriate for her and her decorative style.  Pambo and I, however, like to give each other silly presents from time to time just because they make us laugh.  Martha, Jr. brought the rooster clock in to the office to show us one day... it was spectacularly crapulent!  She gave it to me for Christmas that year.

In order to "regift" you must first receive a gift, therefore I'm sorry to say I've never had the opportunity

Aaaaaaaaaaaaah, just kidding.

I have only regifted once, but it was a DVD that I already had, and that I knew a friend of mine would want, so it really didn't matter.  Because if I hadn't regifted I would have returned the item for cash, and probably turned around and bought the same item as a gift for the friend a few months later.
