Freeze-Frame Radio was born. (approximately, I forget the exact date but I know it was spring of 2003)
In early 2004 JD would join the station and begin doing his Sunday shows. In fall of that year we'd add the forum.
In some ways it's hard to believe it's been that long, in other ways it seems like much, MUCH longer!
I'll always remember the cookbook, the cook OUTS, the bingo, Heino and so much more. By the way, I heard on the radio that Heino is making a major comeback in Germany! YAY HEINO!
At some point this year, if I can get my laptop set up to broadcast again I may purchase just one month of streaming and rerun all the shows we saved over the years. If I do that I'll let you guys know in case you want to relive any of the glory days
I still miss the station and haven't been able to get myself to give up the rights to the domain name. There's a part of me that hopes some day money and time will line up and I can do it again just as a hobby, without concern about how many are or aren't listening. Maybe it'll be when I retire in my 60's or 70's, something to keep me young at heart!
Everytime I go through my collection of music and play a long-forgotten song that never gets airplay anymore it makes me think about how sad it is that great music is lost forever for most people. There's just so much out there and we get so stuck in playing the same things over and over.
iPods are great, but I still believe theirs something to a DJ deciding what to play and surprising us with a song we haven't heard in 10 or 20 years!
Happy Birthday-ish FFR! I miss listening. Sometimes I listen to one of the local radio stations while I work, but it just isn't the same.
I must say it on behalf of myself and Pambo: Don't shine-o my Heino!
"Stockholm syndrome" being someting a little different in my world for the obvious reasons, I can honestly report that I don't ever have a desire to actually hear Heino's music. I get enough of those bug-eyed dudes when I listen into the all hands meetings. But, true enough... until I see differently either in person or in picture form, I assume that any given dude speaking with the Swedish / Danish / Germanic accent looks like Heino... therefore I tend to giggle at them.
A virtual reunion would be really cool!

That which does not kill me postpones the inevitable.
Hey guys, as I suggested I'd be doing earlier, Freeze-Frame Radio is temporarily on-air broadcasting old reruns to celebrate ten years of existence (well, the DOMAIN lasted ten years anyway! )
Right now it's pretty heavy on Jazz 101, Underground 80's and College Daze Revisited as that's mostly what we recorded. But I'm digging around trying to find any other old stuff I might have.
So for the next 30 days if you have any itch to relive Sunday nights from the past feel free to tune in.
Oh, it's the last broadcast! I've got chills. I almost wish I was staying at work for four more hours to listen to it. Okay, not really. But it'll play again, right?
MZ, did you just switch back to the Molly Ringwald?
Your first user ID was actually Molly wasn't it?
Yeah, I switched back for old time's sake, since we're being all nostalgic and such. But no, I was Mz first, then created Molly (a year later?) when I thought I was going to get found out at work.
Ok. I don't know why I didn't save all that stuff. There was SO MUCH recorded material. I imagine most of it has to do with various computer crashes over the years. Very frustrating.
OMG, Jane's Getting Serious! I forgot about this song! I would add it to my Slacker playlist, but if it played it more than once a month, I wouldn't want to hear it any more.
