We started our dog on IAMS puppy food and she got along fine with that.
If you all remember when I posted the picture of our dog when she got those big welts (hives) we finally figured out what it was. It kept happening so we switched foods and no more reactions. When we switched her from IAMS puppy to IAMS adult, that is when it started.
Anyway, we've been feeding her Diamond since then. I'll check the date codes when I go home for lunch. We "should" be ok here in Nebraska, but it is still kind of scary. I'm sure they have tested all he production facilities since this started.
Man, I'm glad I don't have a dog. Web, I'd still suggest looking for another brand of dog food. This is serious, and I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't in business for much longer.
In this case, I think they deserve to be sued into all oblivion. Have they offered any explaination as to how this happened? This is the sort of thing animal rights activists should be concentrating on!
Yeah, we should probably consider changing. We don't have a lot of choices here. She's allergic to IAMS, we've tried Science Diet with our previous dog and that didn't go well. About all we have left to chose from that is available here is the crappy stuff that is $6.00 for a pickup load and Diamond.
What didn't go well with Science Diet? That's what Mz feeds her cats. One of her cats is allergic to magnesium, and Science Diet's Weight Management cat food is the lowest magnesium you can get. Plus, most of the prescription foods that the vet gives out is from Hills brand.
When we tried Science Diet with our last dog, it gave him the runs . . . no, more like projectile diarrhea. We thought he just needed time to get used to it. We went through a whole 40lb bag of it and he never did get used to it. He liked it and ate it good, but it sure didn't agree with him.
Maybe we should try again as each dog is different.
I think the grocery store carries a couple more brands but they are about twice as expensive as the farm store.
I've seen ads where the feed store is carrying a different brand now. They used to sell Diamond until the farm store started carrying Diamond too. I could go see what they have now, but that would be a last resort. The owner of the feed store is a total jerk and I'd prefer to not give him any business if I can help it.

Diamond Pet Foods officials began noticing a high incidence of contaminated corn deliveries at its Gaston, S.C., manufacturing facility in September — three months before the company issued a recall of potentially poisonous dog food.
The deaths of dozens of dogs nationwide have been linked to aflatoxin poisoning from eating contaminated food manufactured by the company at the South Carolina plant.
The company typically has had to reject about one or two truckloads of corn each year because it contained levels of aflatoxin that exceed federal limits, said Mark Brinkmann, the company's chief operating officer. But in September, the company began identifying the fungus on one or two truckloads of corn each week and rejecting the loads, he said.
