So I have worked with this woman in this company for over 2 years. Pretty much the only time she ever speaks to me is to go "sigh...........I am so ready to just go home.......sigh."

This has happened pretty much every day, at least twice a day, since I've known her. Sometimes I get this first thing in the morning.

It basically equates to "I am too lazy to figure out how to do my job, why aren't you picking up on the hint that I just want you to do it for me so I can go outside and smoke again.

She is a miserable incompetent lazy old smelly goat of a woman.

I finally snapped today. I was concentrating on a job set up and she came into my cube to tell me  "sigh...........I am so ready to just go home.......sigh."

I told her to go have her miserable day somewhere else.

she walked out. maybe she actually went home? My boss is not here this week, so I am not sure how or if this will escalate into anything at all.  But I am sure the smokers, people who don't even know me, will now hate me here. Misery loves company.

They can all stick their 'grits up their miserable sorry ass*s for all I care.

whew...............

thanks I feel better.

Funny how things come full circel! We were just talking about the smokers and gossip! I understand and would not give her a second thought!

Maybe she went home to think about it! If she thinks real hard she will see what you see and maybe she will actually learn a lesson!

There's some stuff at my wife's work going on that is RELLY close to snapping too. Fortunately, she's not directly involved other than she is hearing both sides complain about the ohter. It's all silly "12 year old" stuff really.

The pole is starting to make a little noise from the stress. The big snap is going to come soon.

I hope so Ruby. Its just, when I think about reasons why I hate getting out of bed in the morning, its not that I am miserable, its just I have to wade through a sea of misereable folks each day, who seem to do their best to get me down.

There is a lack of professionalism in doing that to people, and I don't respect that at all.

It can be like junior high everywhere you go. Makes you wonder why we have to grow up then if most people act this way.

Whenever I ask Mz how the people at her work are, she always responds, "I don't know, I just stay in my office and keep to myself." We both got into some useless middle school drama when we worked together at our last job, and she seems to do really well in trying to stay out of the drama at her current office. I envy her.

I think it usually starts with just one . . . and then it is REALLY hard to not get sucked into their misery and it grows from there.

Yeah- I agree I love being isolated- I stay out of all the drama. But I know I have been part of that drama too! Do your work and do n ot worry about others unless is directly affects you!

I try to stick to myself. I do a lot of work by myself because I am the only one that can do it.

I think the size of the unhappiness may depend on how large of a group you work with. We are small in numbers, so we tend to talk about lots of things. And we whine and complain, but it is usually about people at other locations not knowing how to do their job.

I know that when I am in a bad mood I try even harder to stay away from my co-workers. That way I don't do something stupid.

You know JD, at my old job in a cube farm, one guy saved a few cardboard boxes from the recycling bin and propped them up at the entrance of his cube as a makeshift door.

But now that I think about it, I don't think he was trying to keep people out, I think he was just making a fort to shoot rubberbands at people passing by.

You would think that people would leave you alone more often if you have headphones on too.

It worked for me when I needed it. But I still have been very independent in both of my jobs. So it is not like people needed anything from me. But at least they didn't try to hang around if I had my headphones on.

I can't stand people like that. You spend 40 hours of your life at work - you shouldn't have to spend it in social situations with people who make it miserable - unless you report to them. Maybe she'll get some sympathethic consoling from the other smokers - but I guarantee they all EMPATHIZE with you.

My mom always said: Wake up every morning and ask yourself if you're happy, if not, change it. Maybe you need a sign like that in your cubicle. It would keep complainers away at least, or you could point to the sign...

Zim - that is a good sign idea. I may need to get one and leave it in a few cubicles around here.

My father actually bought a door mat for the front door that said GO AWAY. We never went in the front door, we used the side door. There was also no door handle on the outside of the front door.

In case you are wondering, yes, my father was strange. But he had his reasons for doing the things he did.

No doorknob... that's hilarious! My daughter will tell you, I don't answer my door unless I'm expecting someone. I can't stand door-to-door salesmen, and we get a lot of them. Everyone I know has a cell phone - if they drop by they can call when they see my truck! I'm probably teaching my tyke a good habit too...

Funny, I never made the connection, but maybe that's why my daughter wants to be a door-to-door salesman for Halloween this year. She sees how much they scare me!
