Not sure how many of you listen to podcasts, I download a few, one of them is The Ricky Gervais Podcast, you may know him from his Shows The Office and Extras, the podcast is just him, Stephen Merchant (co writer of Office and Extras) and Karl Pilkington! Ricky's mate, the podcasts are about 30 mins of the three of them just chating, but some of the things that come out of Karl's mouth have to be heard to be believed, he is a very unique man!
I urge everyone to give this Podast a listen, its classic! had me crying with laughter of Saturday!
Tune into Internet radio like flipping on a clock radio.
Internet Radio comes in all shapes and sizes. Classical from Rio, News from London and Churches from all over the world. But, until now, listening to Internet Radio required you to sit install players, find the radio feeds, and then just sit in front of your computer and try to listen.
You see, radio is not about sitting in front of a screen--Radio is about listening to what you want wherever you want.
PenguinRadio is pleased to introduce the Solutions WebRadio, direct from Europe. Internet radio, no PC needed!
Perfect for those who want to enjoy Internet Radio without the fuss of setting up a computer, or for those who have relocated from other countries and need an easy and simple solution to hear the music from back home that they miss so much.
With over 15,000 units operating in Europe, the Solutions WebRadio is tested simplicity and practicality. Designed for people without the time or their skills necessary to receive Internet radio on a computer, this device is as simple to use as a regular radio. You connect to your home, office, or dial-up network, and then have only to deal with channel selection and volume control.
It's not just Internet Radio for Geeks, it's Internet Radio for Geek's Moms (and Dads)!
That IS cool. I know they tried putting some out a few years ago but never perfected it.
I hope this works! This would be huge for internet radio. I heard an industry expert the other day on MSNBC saying that internet radio was going to be in for the long haul. He said the variety it can offer is going to be a big part in it's always having an audience, despite satellite and other options.
Hope he's right!
Web, I never did try the portable internet, because it sounded like you MIGHT lose your connection when you switched between towers as you drove.
It would be fine for parking and tuning in, but if you tried to listen as you drove I think you'd have nothing but problems as the signal got weak in spots and stuff.
Milwaukee is going to be a wireless city probably by this time next year, at that point I would think you might be able to have a laptop on in your car and drive anywhere in the city without losing your connection.
Now if they can make Rays device capable of connecting to a wireless internet, you could take it in the car, and we might be onto something!
Thanks JR, I couldn't remember if you acutally tried it or not.
I'm looking at it here, mainly for access from wherever I am, but not sure it I'm ready to spend the money yet. Here, its $80/month and only 128k speed. I would SO love it those few times a month when I'm away from home and need to get on, but that is not very often. If I had it available, maybe I'd want to go more places knowing that I could get on from almost anywhere if need be.
I would love to try it but you have to sign a stinkin' two year contract. I'm a little nervous about signing up for two years in case it turns out that it is not reliable, the 128k is only under "ideal" conditions, etc.
They say you do have 30 days to cancel so if I try it, I'll wait until I'm getting ready to take off and go somewhere.
I can't beleive these cellular companies are still sticking to that contract crap.
If you're confident in your product and service you don't need to force people to agree to a contract.
When I was in the commercial cleaning business one of the reasons our company grew as quickly as it did was we were one of the only ones that didn't require a one year contract.
My attitude was, and always will be, if you're not happy with us then you should be able to leave whenever you want to.
I just counted and I'm subscribed to 12 right now. Most of them are tech/computer related both Linux and Windoze. Of those some of them are not as good as others and I listen to them if/when I have time.
I'd share them, but I doubt too many others would be interested in these.
