The 3rd week of eating better and exercising was not as good as the first two but still some progress.
I weighed this morning and am just under the 200 mark at 199. That is only one pound this week, and a total of 5 lbs in three weeks which is a 2.45% loss of my total weight.
I don't think I drank as much water this week and Mrs. Web made cookies. I don't know if that was enough to make a difference in the one pound, but I did eat a few more of the cookies that I probably should have.
I think it is almost easier for me to completely abstain from the sweet snacks than it is to just eat one or two. I don't know if that is normal or not, but it's harder for me to stop than it is to not start.
I walked three miles each day this week for a total of 21 miles, so I think I did good there. It takes me 50-55 minutes to go three miles.
I'm still not "Yipee! Time to go walk!" yet, but I don't hate it either. Its becoming more of a routine than a big deal either way.
So, this upcoming week, I need to remember to keep pushing the water through, watch the extra stuff and see what happens.
I'm really proud of myself. I'm sticking to my Mon-Wed-Fri workouts at the Y, I'm now walking on the treadmill for 35 minutes, and I found a new rowing-type machine which I did for 15 minutes. I also went both Saturday and Sunday. I probably would go on Tuesdays and Thursdays too, but I feel guilty getting home so late every day of the week. But still, I think working out for at least 45 minutes 5 days a week is pretty darn good, and better than I thought I would be doing at this point.
Now the diet could be improved, but that's not one of my immediate goals. Right now I'm just trying to stay on track (no pun intended) with the exercise plan. And, I'm enjoying it!
You're doing good Web! Don't get down on yourself. It always get harder as it goes. It also good to give in a little to the temptation. You just have to watch your portions. I have obtained the treadmill from my sister and should be started that very soon.

I need to get back on this bandwagon. I lost a bunch of weight to be a bridesmain last June, but fell off the wagon following the wedding.
Do you listen to music when you walk? I know that's touted as dangerous, but I can't imagine walking without it. If you get your music line up just right, and keep pace with the tunes, it's a great way to fluctuate your walking pace, which gives you a much more efficient and productive walk than just maintaining one pace.
If you're really interested in the numbers, email me and I'll send you an Excel spreadsheet I set up to track weight loss.. That way, even if you have an unproductive week, you can go to the chart and see the general progression in the right direction.
I dno't know that I ever learned to look forward to walking. But when I took it up a notch to running, then I began to feel the endorphins they talk about, but it was never as addictive as the Snickers bar or the Laffy Taffy.
I'll tell you what's a good medicine for weight loss... try watching a few of the Learning Channel's specials on obesity. I watched a couple last night and completely lost my appetite. One of the facts I found fascinating and had forgotten about was that exercise produces the dopamine that your body desires and becomes addicted to through overeating.... so if you DO bother to do ANY exercise, you're going to supplement that food craving and it will subside.
Another interesting fact, is that even though the foods have gotten richer and fattier, we only consume about 200 more calories per day than we did in the 50's and 60's... BUT we are more sedintary - by about 700 calories daily!!! Yikes!
Molly - do you have a game box at home? I got the home version of the DDR dance mat and it's AWESOME as a weight loss tool - a fun way to do the least fun activity - the cardio. It's a great combination of jump rope / running. And because of the competitive element and the difficulty levels, you can start with the basics and work your way up. It's great fun, even my daughter enjoys it - although I've built up to the expert level and now she won't do it with me.
If you decide to get it, let me know and I'll tell you exactly which one of the games to get - there are about 5 out there... but only one lets you work in a workout mode different from the game mode. I just don't remember which it is - I have three or four now.
Unfortunately, most run in a 3 song game mode, and then you have to wait while they reload a new game. They all track calories burned, but the wait time is annoying. There is one that allows you to stay in a workout mode only where you can select song after song after song and stop when you're done. I think it's one of the earlier ones so it's prbably cheaper too!
