I have to say it is my own fault. I take care of my mouth, I have never had any cavities, but I have been to a dentist in years. More laziness than anything. I was expecting to go in, have a cleaning and come to work. Well, after the x-rays the dentist did a tour of my mouth and decided I need a "deep cleaning" and some other minor things. Apparently, they are going to numb my mouth to do this. It can't be good. I have never had anything like this done. Has anyone else?

I haven't had it done, but it seems that all dentists are recommending the deep cleaning now. My coworkers have been complaining about it. One dentist said that they would not treat her again until she had it done.

I am terrified of the dentist!  I hate going!  (I hope we don't have any members that are dentists)  It's nothing personal agaist dentists - just childhood trauma.

me too- hate the dentist think its a racket. great if there is an emergency, but otherwise I am convinced they do unnesessary proceedures to get their milk money.

Brush & Floss. God gave us teeth before he gave us dentists...

I'm worried about that too, Fuzzy, so I've been neglecting to go in too. I take good care of my teeth and have only ever had one cavity which apparently was a very unusual type, but I haven't been to the dentist in 4 years.

I can't stand the dentist office either.

The only time I've gone has been if I have a problem. I actually pulled one of my own teeth a few years ago! (Not smart, but I did it anyway).

Luckily I have very good teeth. They are all straight and in pretty good shape. I try to brush AT LEAST 3 times a day, and floss when I remember to (I'd like to get in the habit of doing that every day).

The only negative is that I drink a lot of diet cola, so they are starting to brown just a tad.

I saw Tom Snyder on TV a few years ago though and he has amazing teeth that are perfect and white as could be. Then I found out they were fake.

From that point on that became my plan If the teeth ever really start to go south I'll tell the dentist to yank em' all and I'll get the fake ones!

Hey, in my defense it was already loose.

I was doing a strip & wax job (as in tile flooring! Just in case someone wanted to make a smart comment) and the tooth was really bugging me, it was painful to begin with, but because it was loose it would hurt anytime I touched it.

We were actually doing the floor job in a dental office on the weekend, and I couldn't concentrate on work with the tooth hurting, so I took one of the dental tools they had that looked like a pliers (I assumed it was for pulling teeth) and yanked mine out. It felt better the minute I removed it. There was a little tenderness for the next day or so but it's never hurt me since!! That was at least five years ago.

I do however think some of the tooth was left behind deep down in there, so I'm sure I'll pay the price one day.

It was a lower tooth, on the right side of my mouth, about 3 or 4 from the back, so you don't see it unless I show it to you :)

Oh, and by the way, don't worry, I threw the dental tool into their "to be sterilized" pile. They had a big machine that washed and sterilized all that stuff.

Probably not the smartest thing I've ever done, but when you're in pain...

You know, just so you don't think I'm insane.

I should reiterate, it was LOOSE. It would move about an eight of an inch or so in either direction.

I figured it would fall out eventually if I didn't pull it out. I just sped things along.

At the time I really figured I'd be going in to the dentist the folllowing Monday to get it looked at, but by Monday it didn't hurt so I didn't bother.

Now you're being silly D, I never performed surgery on myself.

But if I could I would. I don't like doctors!

And you strip like Web huh?

I guess I am the odd ball. Every six months I am at the dentist. Also, I floss everyday! See my pearly whites!

The FBI took alot of time and expense to put Riggs in the witness relocation program.

You have a better chance of getting a photo of Ray Nagan pulling his foot out of his mouth
