The Last of the Drive In Movies

I was just a kid, probably about 10 when they tore our last drive In down. My wife had never had the chance to experience one. I had learned there was still one open about 120 miles away in Wyoming. I told her that we were just going for a drive and ended up there. It is a memory I will keep forever, and she will too.

personally, I can't see HOW drive-ins died! it was NEVER about the movies! Its dark, you got your dads car, you got your girlfriend, you get to PARK! no worry of intrusions, police "what are you kids doing in there..." I LOVED the drive in!

My first movie was at a drive in. I think it was Jungle Book.

We have a drive in around here just outside of town. We haven't got a chance to go (my hubby used to work 3rd shift and weekends), but hopefully we can go this summer.

With gas prices and the advent of the home theatre...I think drive ins face an up hill batte

heck...with DVD's....theatres may become a dying industry as well

I was just talking to my hubby about drive-ins tonight when we picked up the girl! I never went on a date at the drive-in. I remember I saw Gremlins, Dragnet, Light of Day, Eddie & The Cruiser 2, The Abyss (well I slept through that), maybe The Burbs.

It's funny but our last two drive ins that I frequented are now a parking lot and a Kroger. Sad. But I can still see them in the minds eye. Good times.

Our old drive in now, is someone's house. They built a house around the projector/concession building and tore down the screen. They bought a few acres around it and run a few cows on that land now.

never been to a drive in- but I have 2 within a 1/2 hour drive of me.. adn they both play 2 movies, instead of 1, and its so much cheaper than going to the theater. you pay 1/2 the price you would at the theater to see 1 movie, and you get to see 2! perhaps that something me and the soon to be hubby should do someday soon....

  We had 2 in our town , gone are the days of sneaking people in via the trunk. lol
