End of 4th Week Progress

It's been four weeks since I started my "get healthy" routine. I knew this day would come eventually and this week it did . . . I gained one lb and I am back up to 200. I guess that's what I get for giving in and eating pizza, cheese bread, and drinking 1/2 a bottle of champagne on Friday night.

Its not bothering me . . . I'm doing this more for heart health than weight loss. I still walked 18 miles this week which has to be good for me.

So, onward! I'm going to keep doing what I've been doing and see where I'm at next Monday morning.

I'm still keeping to my exercise schedule, which is what I knwo would be hardest for me. I added a couple extra machines this weekend, and was sore after my workout yesterday, but I'm fine this morning, so I must be doing better. I still haven't seen any weight or waist loss yet, but I know when you are only exercising, your weight will spike before you start losing, so I'll be patient.

I started eating helathy just over a week ago now, I am weighing myself every thursday, and last thursday was my first weigh in since I started and I had lost 3lbs, which I was pleased with as I had not done much exercise in that week and still lost weight. I am used to the new food programme now, just got to start putting some exercise in too.

weekends are rough!

hey web- I am not even sure if they are still around, or if they've been deemed unhealthy, but back when I was into Tae Kwan Do, I used to jog with ankle weights on. It doubled the intensity of the work out, and then when I jogged without them I felt like I could sprint. I bet there would be additional benefits of walking with ankle weights on....additional calories burned...just a thought.

I thought it was strange that I would have gained a pound last week with as much walking as I had done. I wouldn't have been surprised if I had not lost any, but didn't expect to gain, so I weighed again this morning. Today, I'm two pounds lighter than yesterday. I must have been retaining water.

So, if I go by today's weight of 198, that means I did actually lose another pound this week for a total of 6 lbs.

JD, thanks for the tip on ankle weights. I would suspect they are still available. Right now, a three mile "power walk" is about all I want. It is enough to keep me breating a little harder than normal and keeps my heart rate elevated for a sustained time. I believe that is the most important thing for my goal of getting the cholesterol numbers down. I doubt I could go the three miles with weights on yet.

Web, keep in mind, I've always been told that when you start to exercise, your weight will spike before you start to lose, because you're gaining muscle that weighs more than fat. So, to be losing pounds right now is actually really good!

A lot of weeks you might not lose on the scale, but will notice that clothes fits differently. Sometimes the scale does not budge, but your body will!

I did get on the scale this am- no change! Which is great! I really thought that I had gained, but I got up exercised again and will keep trucking! Last week was a typical set back for me- stress and PMS, but I will not let it keep me down!

I started walking more intensely since I got my treadmill fixed and my weight spiked, too, but I expected that. Muscle weighs more than fat, so think of it as a gain in muscle. I'm proud of you guys for working out. It's not easy to do. I've lost over 100 pounds and you can tell a big difference (besides the obvious appearance difference) when you shave off the pounds. This weekend was my hubby's grandmother's 90th b-day party and they had food galore. Pies, cakes, all the good stuff. I was a good girl and ate the veggies. Only 15 more pounds and I will be right where I want to be - ready for summer!

It's been 3 years. I lost the brunt of it the first year. I quit weighing myself after I hit a certain weight, but I know I gained at least 20 pounds after that. So officially what I know for sure that I lost is about 105 pounds, but unofficially, I think it's closer to 130. I have went from a size 26W to a size 12. Size 10 is perfect for me, so I'm trying to get there. When I'm a size 10 I'm as thin as I'm going to get without looking anorexic. Any smaller and people think I'm ill.

Molly, glad you found the pasta! I love it. I also use Ragu's no sugar added tomato sauce to make a variety of things. It's cool because they don't advertise that it's low carb, so the price is the same as the other tomato sauces. I take a pound of ground beef and fry it up, drain it, add the sauce and some mushrooms and the cooked pasta and there's supper! You can also put it in a casserole dish, smother it in mozzarella and bake it for a bit and have a really good casserole. I also make pasta salad with those noodles. Macaroni salad. Alfredo. All of it is low carb. I should sit down one weekend and start a thread just for the low carb recipes I have with Dreamfields. You feel like you're cheating, but you're not.

I will make it a point to do that. I used to be a cook (that's what they call it in the sticks). I love inventing new recipes. I have made sugar free cherry cheesecakes and all kinds of goodies. I will try and get them together and put them in a thread. Thanks for the support everyone. I really appreciate it.

I'm going to try and contact Dreamfields and see if they would be interested in making a cookbook. I think that would be a good idea. I'll let you know how it goes.

The cookbook sounds like a great idea Trish! I love my pasta -it's a weakness. I haven't tried the Dreamfields yet, but I have seen it & know about it.

I love pasta too Woohoo. Carbs are my weakness. I was trying a whole wheat pasta to help defray some of the carbs, but I didn't like the texture and it tasted kind of weird. But the Dreamfields pasta takes and feels just like regular pasta! I wish they'd come out with more variety though.

They have macaroni, linguini, and penne too. They really need to come out with spirals and lasagne!
