Politics

I've heard you say we don't discuss politics on this station, yet I'm seeing a ton of it in the Forum.   ??

LS,

We won't discuss it on the air, we're not a political station.

But in the forum as long as people are respectful I have no problem with it. Fluff is fine, but every once in awhile it's nice to talk about something with some substance.

The way I view it is that listeners don't want to hear my or JD's views, and if we did that it would be one sided since only we can talk.

In the forum people can add their views to ours, and if they don't want to discuss politics they can stick to the other threads and ignore the politically themed ones.

And that's a good thing, because we all need to be aware and informed.

I know it's a popular thing to say YOU HAVE TO VOTE, IF YOU DON'T VOTE YOU CAN'T COMPLAIN.

I disagree. if you're stupid to the facts of what's going on in this world PLEASE STAY HOME in November.

These people that just go in and pull levers based on the name they hear the most often really scare me.

I 2nd that one JR !   There needs to be some kinda test. I dont know how it could be done but this country really needs some educated voters.  Whats scareing me now is the Iranian president and Hamas.  what scares me even more is over half the country has ZERO idea of whats going on over there and what its effects on us will be. And the scariest of all - I don't think to many in Washington have a clue either. There to busy trying to get into the paper instead of reading whats in it.

I'm going to drop a post in here about Hammas in a few , and throw Iran in just 4 fun.

OF COURSE IT'S ABOUT OIL!

IT'S ALWAYS ABOUT OIL!

It's because of our wars in Iraq and our desires to take over the entire middle east that we are awash in ALL THIS GLORIOUS OIL!

Why, just look at how much oil we've aquired after we toppled Saddam!

I'm using oil instead of water in my toilet these days because it's just so plentiful!

aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah, HAPPY DAYS

Amen To the Not Voting if you dont know Idea. My mother got SO mad at me b/c right after i turned 18(in august) there was a presidential election that year) and I didnt vote. I told her that i didnt feel i had a right to vote b/c i hadent paid attention to what the runners had to say, adn I wasnt just going to go in there and play eney meny miny moe to choose a president. That would have been a disservice to my country!

She was still mad, Its your civic duity as a citizen.... yada yada yada... so i make sure I pay attention to what they have to say so I can confortable go into that booth and make a decision based on what I feel would be good for the country.

That's how a lot of people think Myndi and it drives me nuts.

I understand not EVERYONE is into politics, and there's nothing wrong with that. If someone is happy to go along without paying attention to politics good for them, but don't try to browbeat them into voting and make them feel bad if they don't.

I see that all the time with people and I just don't get it, it makes no sense. Why force someone to GUESS at a candidate?

I found it ironic that an oil barron like Bush said that this country is oil addicted.

Please, PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE,

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE

Would you and your liberal friends PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEASE stop with the oil barren crap?

How much stock does George Bush own in big oil anymore? Do you have ANY idea?

Why are you so bent on always referring to him as if he sits on at head of Exxon TODAY?

He owned a major league ball club for many years too JD. Maybe this war is all about baseball huh? Maybe he's just trying to get the Texas Rangers an unfair advantage by tapping that virtually untapped Iraqi well of major league talent!

What was Dubya's net worth before the Presidency. What will it be when he leaves the presidency.

If you have some evidence he's becoming a billionaire during his two terms by all means BRING IT! I'd love to hear about it. In fact, I'll give you my word I'll turn on him in a heartbeat if this whole war was to line his personal pockets.

In fact, it's truly amazing that with a rabid pack of liberal journalists out there, who want nothing more than to tear Bush from limb to limb, they haven't come out with this HUGE story that you're apparantly sitting on!

This is the stuff that just makes democrats sound silly.

If you're point is simply that he made his money with oil. I'd still have to say a big so what by the way.

In the 50's, 60's, 70's and 80's we were all oblivious to the likely shortage of oil, and we weren't being held hostage by foreign nations like we are today. No one viewed the oil companies as an EVIL empire when they were getting gas for eighty cents a gallon.

You know, you made the comment to me earlier via IM about our debate being like two boxers going at it in the ring.

I really feel that right now

The thread was dead, and then all of a sudden it's back and I take a blow to the head.

I kind of shake off the surprise and start swinging back.

We need a referee to just call a TKO so I can rest

no no no......see you missed my point. it was actually a compliment. If someone coming from an oil background says we are oil addicted, isn't that sort of backwards minded if his true interest was in preserving his fortune and oil fields?

Wait a minute.

As you can see from my last post I'm a bit disoriented now.

Are you ACTUALLY telling me you weren't trying to suggest he has no business saying something like that?

You're not being sarcastic?

I am saying that. If his true interests are oil, ya just don't go out there and say we need a change because america is "oil-addicted".

(UNLESS!! UNLESS!! he expected by now to see foreign oil imports increase 4-fold because he thought the war in Iraq would be done by now, and this would be the way the new Iraqi government would be repaying the United States as the price of their freedom.....) But I admit this point is just speculation.....)

Well, the stated goal was to have Iraqi oil sales pay for the reconstruction of their country.

Which is why he underestimated how much this war would cost. We never managed to get that oil production back up to full.

Hopefully we'll be getting paid back for the reconstruction costs somewhat.
