What does your driving record look like?

Mine looks so much better now that I have aged! When I was a teenager I should have known when I got into a wreck the first night I drove- I needed to stay off the road! Actually that was a hit and run. I got into a lot of fender benders when I was young and with each accident came the tickets- following too closely and driving too fast for conditions. Well when I was 21 and my dad made me take over the insurance payments, I woke up!

I have never gotten a speeding ticket, but have been pulled at least a half a dozen times. Thank God it was always by some dumb cop who could be talked out of giving it to me!

My driving record is clean now, but my insurance is high cause of the hubby. His is turning around, but he has about 5 speeding tickets and a couple minor fender benders and when I was pregnant, he got into a huge accident, that was his fault and took 7 cars out!

Yikes!

I was in two car accidents and have had two speeding tickets, but all of them happened in the late 80's. I've had a perfect record since 1990.

The speeding tickets were definately my fault, that was just being young and stupid.

The accidents were both NOT my fault.

The thing that killed me was I had a brand new car, and it got hit at about 2000 miles and then again at 4000 miles. That was the first car I ever owned, so I was a new driver and feeling a bit skittish about being on the road after that!

While both were the other persons fault, I know I wouldn't have been in one of them today, because I'm much more of a defensive driver now and would have seen that woman blow the stop sign.

I've only gotten one speeding ticket. That was way back when I was going to tech school in 85-86. I've just not gotten caught since then.

I've had a couple cars get hit and need body work, but I've never been in one when it happened.

Oh and one time I fell asleep at the wheel driving home late night. It was winter. I hit black ice & I woke up as I started to spin & hit a snowbank. No traffic, no report, I was fine. I busted a light & the grill.

When I first started driving, my record was not so great, but it's been clean since I was 18. I think I had a bit of bad luck and some sucky cars that had a lot to do with it too.

My first accident, I was driving past a high school right when their homecoming game let out. I was watching the guy directing traffic who told me to go, but the car in front of me suddenly stopped and I didn't brake in time. I don't think it was totally my fault, because she hit the lady in front of her, and as far as I know, my insurance never got billed for the lady in front.

My second accident, I was waiting behind another guy to get out of a gas station, and he decided to back up and I had nowhere to go. It was totally his fault, and he admitted it, and my car didn't have any damage, so we didn't file a report for it.

My third accident, I had this van that was having transmission problems. Me and a friend decided to go to Michigan city, but as soon as we got on the highway, my transmission started acting up. So we pulled into a Meijer parking lot, I parked my van in the back, and we took her car. When I came back, I started the van, looked both ways, but when I hit the gas, it didn't go. So I put it in Park then put it back in drive again and hit the gas, without looking the second time! I hit a little old lady who wasn't wearing her seatbelt, and I totally feaked out.

My 4th accident, I was driving down the road in a beat up old pickup, when this lady who was parallel parked on the side of the road pulled out without looking and hit the back side of the truck. Again, there was no apparent damage to the truck, so we decided not to file a report.

My 5th accident, I was driving up a hill and around a curve in snow/ice mix weather, and when I got to the curve and turned my wheel, the car didn't turn! I tried everything, pumped the brakes, but ended up running over a curb and breaking the axel. When I was in the resturant of the parking lot my car was in calling my stepdad, a cop pulled up, so a report was filed. Mother nature's fault, but it didn't help my insurance any. That was my last accident.

I've only got one speeding ticket, about 6 years ago, and I think I've only been pulled over two other times for speeding where I didn't get a ticket. I did get a ticket for an expired registration once, but I renewed my registration and the ticket was cancelled.

Note, the last accident was when I was 17, and now I have a decent car, so all should be well! At least my insurance company thinks so, so that's gotta count for something!!!!

Yes, I suppose so.

OR you could be waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overdue!!!!

Just to be safe I'll stay inside thank you very much!

I'm just kidding, I'm sure you're an excellent driver. Like I said, my first 4000 miles accounted for all my accidents too, so I know how you feel. I've always done a lot of driving and have probably logged 300,000 miles since then without an incident, so if anyone is overdue I am!

I feel the same way. I am overdue.

Now here if you get in a wreck, your insurance goes up no matter who is at fault. That makes me stay far away from everyone on the road. It also makes me want to kill someone if they hit me!

I haven't had that many, knock on wood.

When I was 18, I had the scariest experience of my life. We were doing the musical Big River and I was in charge of props. I had cajoled the local funeral home to let us use a huge solid oak casket for the play. My dad had a truck so I went to pick it up (during school hours - wooohooo!). They tell me to back in, so I pull forward and start to back in, but I didn't judge the distance correctly and hit the GRAVEDIGGERS CAR! He comes over and he was the freakiest man I have ever seen in my life. He was african american, but he had the bluest eyes I have ever seen. That, coupled with the fact that he was a gravedigger, freaked me out, but good. I made a small dent and he said to have my dad call him. He then tried to say that I put this huge dent in his car that would cost over $2000 to fix. It was further up then where I hit and it all got sorted out. My dad threatened to turn the accident in to the insurance company and if he lied to them it would be insurance fraud, etc., etc. (My dad is one tough cookie).

The other one where I was driving was when a lady ran a red light and side swiped me. She tried to buffalo the cop and tell him that her light was green, but he wasn't buying. Her insurance company said they would pay 100%, but they didn't and my insurance company at the time wouldn't go after them for it. I ended up not getting it fixed. I'm still bitter about that. I was lucky, though. One quarter of a mile more and my son would have been in the car with me. The woman would have suffered dearly!

My dad was driving last Dec. when he t-boned a guy who ran a red light. That was the worst one I have ever been in. The cops (from Missouri) immediately took the MO'ons side because we were from Illinois. That really made me mad. I have a little bit of a temper and I unloaded on the guy when he lied right to the cop. I don't like Missouri police officers. Every time we've had to deal with them, the Illinois driver gets screwed over.

My last speeding ticket was a long time ago. My speedometer was broken and I thought I was going along with traffic and I got pulled over. I took it to the shop to get the speedometer fixed and even brought the receipt to the judge, but no dice. Hey! You can't blame a girl for trying!

a month after I got my lisence I got busted for rolling through a stopsign leaving school- i wouldnt have gotten a ticket but i get a little mouthy....

then a year later I got into an accident that was not my fault. I was driving down the street and past a car dealership when a guy pulled out right in front of me and t-boned the brand new truck they just unloaded from the trailer and were taking for a test drive before puting it in the front like. I got a new car out of that one...if you absolutely have to get into an acident... make sure its with a car thats owned bu a car dealership... LOL

and nothing has happened since. havent been pulled over at all. its been like 6 years, so my record is clean and my insurance is dirt cheap!

In Florida it looks great, same for Georgia and Mich.  Texas has a smudge - thee ole California stop. Which I found hard to believe as I was looking right at the deputy. But he was pretty nice as he could have done more , ( no insurance ,expired licence from another state) . We talked awile and he gave me a ticket for the stop sign thing with me promicing to pay it and get squared away . (which I did )  as for Oregon .. lets just say that firehydrants DO NOT, I repeat DO NOT fall over when you hit them with a '72 Chevy Chevelle (while  blue lights are reflecting off your rear view mirror ) like they do on tv. Goodbye Portland , Hello Houston !    It was a very long time ago.

I beleive it!

How the heck are you gonna get in a car accident when you spend all your time on the golf course?

Hey, speaking of which, have you ever run into OJ looking for his wifes killer on the courses? I hear that's still where he's concentrating his search.

Well CP could have got in a golf cart accident. Drinking & golfing around will get you every time!

My step-daughter got into a serious accident with a golf cart. We all got very lucky she wasn't paralyzed.
