Man shot by Cheney has minor heart attack
Controversy erupts over White House handling of hunting accident news

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The 78-year-old lawyer who was shot by Vice President Dick Cheney in a hunting accident has some birdshot lodged in his heart and he had a "minor heart attack," a hospital official said Tuesday.


Peter Banko, the hospital administrator at Christus Spohn Hospital Corpus Christi-Memorial, said Harry Whittington had the heart attack early Tuesday while being evaluated.


He said there was an irregularity in the heartbeat caused by a pellet, and doctors performed a cardiac catheterization.

I'm with you on the uck words.  Back in my younger years "suck" was right up there with the other four-letter words. Now a days it's in our commercials and network television. 


It's sort of hard to tell my 12 year old that that's unacceptable when she's hearing it that way.  What's up with that? 


Could it maybe be that we spelled and pronounced is "Sux" and that made it worse?

"Crap" is truly one of my favorite words.  It's so versatile.  I use it all the time, and have been doing so since I was a kid.


And I've never in my life met someone who considered it to be a swear/curse word before you, Ruby.

Sorry, but I would die if my three year old said it or if I heard my preacher say it. That I guess is my test- would I say it in front of Father George or do I want to hear sweet little E say it?

yeah, when my middle child was around 5 he asked me if he could say cus words when he grows up.  i took the chance (because i wasn't sure which words he actually knew) and asked what he wanted to say.  he thought for a moment (i believe he was trying to be selective as though he only had three wishes), and finally he said " *hit, d***it, and stupid".


you know, i really don't know where i was going with this...

ruby, sometimes i curse.  usually only when i'm caught up in the moment, as with the *rap incident.  thanks for keeping me in line.  can i say crud? or is that also along the lines of uck and ick words?

I pretty much let my kids say all the substitute things like dang, crap, gosh, etc.   I better hear the SH though in Gosh.  No taking the Lord's name in vain!!  Their Sunday school teacher even told them that saying "Gosh" was just as bad. 


I'm not that much of a stickler, but....  I do cringe when my older one saying "Freakin".  It's just toooo close.  If they do ever take up the cussing, I'll have to punish their father as much as them.  He attempts to keep it out of the house but slips happen.
