Morning Dave and all! Good afternoon Ultimo!

Today is going to be a bad day. I really don't want to go into specifics right now, but I'll be on and off the board all day.

Hi & Bye! It's 22 right now not including the wind chill. We have been under a high wind warning. Very cold! Anyways I'm very behind in stupid work and I'm going to go try and play catch up! If I accomplish that then I will be back later. i don't want to work so I am easily distracted so it's best if I don't keep this page up. I just didn't want anyone to wonder where I was.

Morning all. Afternoon Ultimo.

I can see it appears that we are going to have a quiet day around here. I hope everyone survives the day. Take it one piece at a time. That is my theory for the day and I hope I don't have to smack anyone around.

55 degrees now with the rain ended, clouds and temperatures beginning to drop. To 30 degrees by this afternoon. Keep warn.

Hey Sparky . . . you should move down South here with us. We're a lot warmer at -7°.

I'm home with the boy today. Sitter had an out-of-town Dr appointment. I got him to preschool, so I'm free for a couple hours then go back and get him.

oh man..... so much for my friday midnight stroll....

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Chill Advisory for most of southern Wisconsin. The advisory, issued early this morning, is in effect from 6 tonight until noon Saturday.

The Weather Service says air temperatures will drop to 5 below to 13 below zero overnight and will couple with winds of 10 to 20 mph to produce wind chills of 20 below to 34 below zero.

Permanent Vacation

I am having a crappy day today, but hopefully it will get better.

My foot has been bothering me, so I made an appointment to see a podiatrist. That appointment was this morning at 8:30. I usually take my hubby to work at 5:30 am, and go back to bed. Well, I told everyone at work that I would come in at 7 instead of 8 so I could make up for the time I would be at the doctor. That way instead of going back to bed after taking Brian to work, I would just get ready and go to work too. The catch? Brian doesn't work on Fridays. So I ended up getting up early on the day when I usually don't have to.

Two xrays later, my doctor tells me I have an inflamed tendon, probably from walking on the treadmill, possibly from my shoes. He recommends I try something else other than the treadmill. Great, there goes 75% of my workout plan. He gave me an anti-inflammatory and a cream. I'm one of those people who, if it says a side effect is drowsiness and dizziness, I will be loopy and or just plain passed out. I hate that feeling. So, I may be sparse this weekend, or when I am on, I may be a little out of it. And the cream is a specially made compound only available at one pharmacy, and not auto-approved by insurance. Yay.

And last night I get a call from my apartment complex that they were billed for January's gas bill, and they paid it (and the amount doesn't sound right, but I can't really contest it at this point). So I have to pay them back and have it switched back over to my name today, or else it'll be disconnected Monday. That's okay, I didn't have anything better to do today than call the gas company and be put on hold for 20 minutes. I called them, got it switched back over, of course I had to pay a fee for that (I'm still not exactly sure what happened), but at least I'll have heat. Monday's supposed to be 35 degrees.

On top of that, I'm drowning at work between plenty of new patients, a bunch of new website features I'm in charge of, and a few difficult parents and volunteers (I think there was a full moon earlier this week). I'm coming in to work for a couple hours tomorrow.

I need a vacation. We were planning a trip to Florida in May, and were planning on using our tax refund to pay for it. Well, Brian's work didn't take enough taxes out of his paycheck, so now our refund won't even cover the new tires that my car desperately needs.

But, the worst part of the day is over, and although I don't drink, I get to have fun with meds when I get home. I just needed to come vent. Thanks all!

Mz for what its worth- ellipical and cross-trainers and your gym may help you out- your feel stay stationary as opposed to impacting like on treadmill? I can't do the treadmill/ go running anymore cuz my knees are just shot, but I was totally won over on the elliptical- knees feel just fine-

I hope you find something that works!

Mz has said before one of the reasons she prefers the treadmill over elliptical machines is that she's not sitting on her butt like she does all day at work. I'm guessing she'll probably switch to a few laps on the track and then do an elliptical machine.

Mz - I am sorry you are having a day. That is about the only thing to say. I hope you survive the afternoon and have a chance to settle down over the weekend. Don't spend too long in the office tomorrow.

Remind me to write you a vacation check after I win the jackpot tomorrow night.

no sitting down! lookie!

NordicTrack Ellipse

Elliptical trainers are the latest cardio equipment to hit the market, they tout a full-body, low impact workout. But do these machines really live up to their claims?

Researchers at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, compared the NordicTrack Ellipse elliptical trainer against a motorized treadmill, a stairstepper, and a cycle ergometer to see how the Ellipse compared with other modes of exercise. The study revealed no significant difference in oxygen consumption, heart rate, and calorie expenditure between treadmill running and the Ellipse. Both the treadmill and Ellipse provided the test subjects with a superior workout over the stairstepper and cycle ergometer.

The University of Wisconsin's study also revealed that the Ellipse produced impact forces similar to those of walking, while treadmill running topped the list in greatest amount of impact compared to the other activities. Lead researcher John Porcari explains, "Since the ground reaction forces on the Ellipse were less than half of those during treadmill running, this type of motion may provide a workout similar in intensity, but with less chance for orthopedic injury."

Hm, that is a possibility then.  I always thought elliptical machines were the ones that were kinda like a bike with the handle things.  It still sucks, because Mz was really enjoying her workout on the treadmill.

I think that my coworker enjoys torturing me! I've worked so hard to empty my in-box. I was working on my last pack when she added 3 more for me to enter! I have about an hour left- I will never get caught up today!

yea I have absolutely had it today too- I am outta here. well over 40 hrs in before yesterday even. People are such jag-offs. I will spare you all the details, but I am actually doing my boss's boss's job while my boss does nothing more than surf the internet and his boss is out arranging stocks in the warehouse. WTF.

that it- addios, everyone have a great weekend- stay warm, dry, safe, hope to see you here sunday night. I will now go have beer and leave about a 1/2 dozen people in a lurch because of that.

I can be a total b*stard to those I disrespect.

Molly- you had a very poopy day. I am so sorry to hear that. I hope that you can heal quickly. But weren't you feeling bad before you started exercising again?

I will pray that you heal soon and that all your heating issues turn out ok too. I hate unexpected bills.

Thanks Ruby. Nope, Molly was having the ankle trouble, not me, and that's actually went away since we started exercising.
