Lotion, Lotion and MORE Lotion

That is my cry every time I get out of the bath or wash my face and hands.

I am obsessed though with Curel's new 24 hour lotion in the blue bottle. I bought some for everyone in my office for Xmas and they are all now hooked.

Do you guys have a lotion preference or do you just have dry skin!?

good point- I was whinnin a few years back at how dry my shoulders got in winter- so bad I almost couldn't sleep- felt like I was worked over with sandpaper- my friend lisa suggested I try dove moisterizing soap and that helped alot. never used anything else since.

But I've got this extra dry skin st ives stuff I also use- especially like after the long soak today. ALso good on hands when they get chapped. not so bad anymore tho- that was more from when I helped my uncle work on weekends in this warehouse repairing and scrapping pallets- it got bone-chilling cold in there and our knuckles would just start bleeding.

I'm allergic to lanolin and lavender, which excludes about 75% of all lotions. So, although I have dry skin, I don't use as much lotion as I should. Lately I've been using cocoa butter lotions since they're least likely to have lanolin or lavender.

I have oily, oily skin. I don't have to use lotion. It's sad because I always buy these amazing smelling lotions that I use a couple of times...until I remember, "Oh hey. Grease pit over here..."

I am a lotion freak! I love to try new things, but lately have used restraint due to money situation & that I have plenty of lotion already. I love going to Bath & Body Works! The last time I got 2 small bottles of "Tahiti Sweetie"

I'm going to sound obsessive/compulsive here, but I can't help it... genetic programming.  I use Bath & Body Works body cream on my feet. For some reason, it seems to help keep the rough dry patches at bay. I use Jergen's Ultra Dry Skin formula on most of the rest of me except my face.  I can't think of the actual name of the stuff I use on my face, but I got it at Target... it contains seaweed and shea butter.  Seems to help with the wrinkles a little less noticible.

I use three types:

For scent: I love Bath & Body Work's Juniper Breeze hand lotion

For really really dry skin: Aveeno's Skin Relief Lotion with oatmeal. Believe it or not, most of the cheap over the counter hand lotions out there for dry skin contain lots of alcohol - which CAUSES dry skin. That really irritates me, literally! I've found this one, with an oatmeal base does a better job.

For pampering: Kohl's has this GREAT line of foot and hand products, one of which is a lotion, I can't recall the name, but the subtitled name is "Silk pajamas". The stuff really is the softest, silkest feeling lotion, without feeling greasy. And the smell is incredible!! They have a spreay for your pillow with the same scent. Love the stuff...

The one I absolutely hate is anything by Jergens. ACK! (Sorry, Mena, gotta disagree with you there! You must use a different type, I've never heard of one with those ingredients - their main stuff I really don't care for.

I've wanted to try Aveeno's Skin Relief Lotion with oatmeal but just haven't. Now I probably should. I can't stand itching anymore!

YMMV (Your milage may vary), but the deals site I use says some CVS's have Aveeno seriously marked down right now.... you may want to try stopping by!

Thanks for the info. I'll have to go to a different county though. This is so stupid, but all our CVS were replaced by Rite Aid's in our county. So every corner has a Rite Aid!

Argh! How frustrating - we've got both around here. Which is nice, since I love going to Rite Aid on Sunday morning for their FREE stuff mail-in rebate stuff! CVS can be expensive, but their clearance deals are usually good. MAN am I cheap!!

Hey a deal is a deal! Doesn't mean you're cheap.

There are a few brands I use, but I always make sure the products are not first tested on animals.  St. Ives with Aloe Vera is very nice, although there are other types of moisturizers made by St. Ives that I don't care for.

P.S. - If anyone cares to see what brands torture & kill animals in product testing, I recommend going to navs.org.  You can click on the picture of the bunny "Who tests on animals?" box and type in the product's name.  NAVS has a great website, and there are no horrifying graphic photos posted, so you don't have to worry about that.

OK, I'm off my bunny-loving soap box now.

Any of the brands I typed in weren't found. I'm hoping that's a good thing. Of course, I get mostly organic lotions because of allergies, so I doubt they'd test on animals anyway.

That's good.  And all-around, organic is probably healthier for people in a lot of ways, too.
