Yeah, I saw that well in advance with our new system.

I thought about commenting on it, but figured why draw any additional attention to it.

There's another one coming up from the same person that just says "Impeach Bush".

I know it's the same person because the new program I'm using tells me the IP address.

We had to add that ability to our system because we were getting request spammed by some people that were able to circumvent the request limits.

I think you handled it right Riggs, and the new features that've been added rock!

JR - do you have the ability to delete the dedication or is it set in stone once it's been done?

lol,

Don't worry Disco-Strangler, the knowledge we have at the station is VERY limited in most cases, although if I want to really dig into it I can usually find out where someone works based on their IP addresses (and of course assuming they're logging in from work).

The main reason for watching the IP though is so that if someone finds a way to abuse the request system we can blast away their requests and eventually ban them if necessary.

Over the weekend we had one person request about 40 songs in half an hour! They had typed in the word KILL to the search engine and then requested every song with that word in it.

Susan, I can delete the request (and the dedication as well then), but deleting JUST the dedication is a little harder and not an exact science.

I wouldn't do that though unless the message was nasty, and then I'd just delete the whole request since the person is clearly a jerk anyway.

The political messages don't bother me, I'm open minded and have no problem with someone speaking their mind if it's not just spewing stupid comments. I'm not real fond of the fact they can't even say who they are though. If you've got an opinon then say it's your opinion, don't act all high and mighty and then go and leave the name blank.

Mel, thanks, I might have commented if they had said who they were (you know, just a first name), but since they didn't I figured their thoughts weren't worth commenting on.

I have noticed both of these. The political dedications have been going on for a while. Also a couple of weekends ago Dave and I noticed that someone had played abot 30 songs with the word rain in them!

DS- I have no more power than you! What I posted you can see on the now playing link. (to the right and top!)

Well, it turns out some people are behind a proxy that masks their IP, so they can request away until eventaully they hit a duplicate IP (usually within 20 songs or so).

But now we can see them, and when they try it their requests are ALL deleted except for the first two.

I wouldn't even mind so much, but you know it's just someone being an a** because they search for one word and then select EVERYTHING with that word in it.

I'm not talking about when listeners do a "theme", like maybe RAIN because it's a rainy day, there's nothing wrong with that, but when it's just a complete spamming we have to put an end to it.

If we hadn't figured out how to stop this is could have been the end of the auto-request system.

I'm glad you found out how to do it JR. I would be so bummed without the auto-request system!

DS- a funny story. When I was young- in the 80s!- my mom told me about video phones. How they were all the rage- you could see who you were talking to! Well I thought that everyone had one but us, so for about a year I always answered the phone only if I was ready to be seen. Also, I never made a call unless I was primped or unless I had been to your house and knew you did not have one!

I don't mind the politics either - it's a free country after all.  I was just wondering.

I've noticed this before but always figured it was just me. So today when I heard it come on, I was sure to pay attention. JR, I think you put a permanent fade out in the actual Freeze Frame song...

I LOVE this song. I don't own many CDs but I promtly went out and bought this after seeing them open for Jimmy Page. It's the first song on my walking CD too...
