High school reunions

Ok we started talking about it in another thread. But anyone have any comments?

I went to my 10th in 1997. It was the first time I had been to Chicago since we moved here. So it was really great for me to see people that I had not seen in ten years. But I was very much the black sheep. I was in college and raising a kid alone. Most of the people I graduated with went on immediately to college and they were all married and had good jobs. BUT I looked good! At least as good as I could have! I had began to exercise about six months before and was very thin and toned- hair was waist length and healthy and I was happy being me! So I showed them all, just because I did not fit your mold- I am still happy.

I am not sure about the next one- next year. I will go if my best friend goes and I can stay with her and spend some time with her. Otherwise- I will not. It would really be an excuse to see her.

HEY I will have to meet the WI trio for sure if I go,  I will not be far at all!

Call me a dork, but I love going to those reunions.  We're having the big 20 this year so I'm hoping we have a good turnout.

As I said in the other post, we're even having an MCHS BAND reunion this year for ALL of the alumi over the last 30 years.  I can't wait.  That way I can see not only those in my own class but also the ones that were a grade or two ahead and behind of me.  On our website, we've got postings from people all over the country planning to come to this one-time shindig.

I have gone to both of mine. We will be doing 15 years in 2007. I had a nice time when I went. I saw people I hadn't seen in years and they were doing well. Don't get me wrong, it would have been nice to take someone else with me instead of going by myself. It is nice becuase all the jerks in high school are the ones that don't go so you can have a nice time. I was so busy socializing last time that I never had dinner.

I never went to mine- I still see the people who are my friends from back then.

At my 10 year reunion I was in my second trimester of pregnancy.  It was that awkward stage where you can't tell if someone is pregnant or just gaining weight.

This is awful, but I always like going to visit with the old high-school crush.  We're both happily married, it's just one of those guilty pleasures.

I went to my 10th and everyone was still pretty much the same. I heard that after we left, there is a huge fist fight. Aparently, one guy paid the DJ extra money to stay longer and then he went around trying to collect money from everyone else. Some didn't want to pay and it ended up in a fight.

The 20 year was much more calm. The cheerleaders and jocks were fat, and the dorks had the best jobs. It's funny how time evens us all out.

We only had 76 in our graduating class and I think about 40 where there. I think its different where you have a class that size becasue you knew everyone in school and had done something with each one in some kind of setting.

There were close to 385 in our class.

Maybe I can borrow one of you guys for my reunion next year.

I didn't go to my 10 year, mostly because I didn't keep in touch with any of the people I went to high school with. I was in the untouchable group known as "brainiacs" back then, so I didn't have a whole lot of friends there in the first place. Every now and again, I run across people I went to school with.  Several work here at the Sprint campus.  It's always the same story... married someone we went to school with, had 3 or 4 kids, divorced, married someone else we went to school with... still live in the same town, friends with the same people who do the same things.

I probably will not go to my 20 year coming up in a few years. The captain of the football team works 2 floors up from me. Every time I see him around the building I just shake my head.  Wouldn't even say hello to me back then when I passed him in the hallway, now he wants to try to flirt with me every time he sees me.  No thanks.

I guess it is a matter of perspective.  If you miss your old friends, then you should go.  If it makes you want to vomit, then don't.
