yep, I submitted the track, it was from her "Emotion" album from 1984, which was her push at trying to be an MTV pop star, needless to say, the album was a sales disapointment and she was doing Broadway music the next year,  but there's some fun 80's stuff on that one.

Yes, including her rendition of "Left in the Dark," which always makes me wanna hear the Steinman version again.

Riggs - Do you have an opinion on that cover?

You know what LS, I don't think I've heard her version of Left In The Dark.

I'll have to check it out. At first blush I'd have to say she does not AT ALL seem like a good fit for a Steinman song. I mean, I know Celine covered his tunes, so it's not like it's unthinkable, but Streisand? I just can't see it.

If a woman is gonna tackle Steinman I would think she needs to be in the Bonnie Tyler mode, with that huskier, rougher edge to her voice.

We'll see though. I'm gonna check it out.

I much prefer it in his voice, but hers is OK. Never saw the video on MTV, huh? Very cool Kris Kristofferson cameo in that. (Kris Kristofferson... yum yum!)

I have "Left In The Dark" as well, wasn't sure about submitting it because of the songs length (7 1/2 minutes).  If you want it, I'll send it, I know it made the singles chart in late 1984 though it peaked off at #50 and I think Columbia was expecting a smash.

I like this Concrete Blonde song. Now that I think about the words to Joey- that song is dark too- about someone being drunk and passed out somewhere!

Are you kidding Anf? We play 13 minute meat loaf cuts here, of course we'll take a 7.5 minute song from Bah Bwa.

You know, after you mentioned it wasn't as good as the one you remembered I checked the library and was SHOCKED, I mean SHOCKED, to find I didn't have this classic album in my collection!

Needless to say, I had to fix that situation immediately

Luuuuuuuuuv the Gerry Rafferty!!!  Thanks to whomever asked JR for that one!!

We have a readio talk show that uses the instrumental during their show, so unfortunately, I always think the Financial Peace Money Show is getting ready to come on when I hear it.  That's OK though,  this song will always be on my "Cool" list.  How about that record cover art too.  Boy, that's a lost art form now!!

Yeah, I LOVE Baker Street! It's one of those songs that I always forget about and then am delighted when it comes on. For once, although I prefer the original, I really like the Foo Fighters version too.

I don't think I've heard of Amy Rigby before FFR, but I'm really liking her stuff. Her style reminds me of a traveling musician that I saw about a month ago. Folksy yet humorous and upbeat, I like it.

I need to leave, but this Michael Buble is intriguing to me. I will have to do some research when I get to work! I am loving him! I heard him on the radio yesterday- Save the Last dance for me or something like that!

Concrete Blonde- Joey

This is one of those songs that once we start playing it- we just keep playing it for awhile. It's funny, it just keeps going through cycles!

Wow!  I must've totally missed that.  Chalk up another one for Phil Spector.
