Eyesight?

Here is a poll just for Dave from the newbie!

Do you have good eye sight or do wear some kind of correction device?

I said perfect vision, but I haven't had my eyes tested for a long time, not since school, so I may need them testing but I don't think anything is wrong with them yet.

I can't see a thing without my glasses or contacts. I prefer my contacts, not only athestically, but I feel like I can see better with them. The last time I went to the eye doctor, I asked compared to 20/20 what my vision was. Her response was that their chart didn't go up that high, but she'd guess I'm about 800/20 (or vice versa, I always get the top and bottom switched). Without my glasses or contacts, everything is just a blur of color.

glasses for me...tried contacts, but just too much bother.

I would get lasic surgery at some point once I know it has no long term detrimental side effects.

Until then, I am Mr. Magoo.......ROAD HOGS

I have terrible eyesight! My hubby has perfect eyesight and I hate him for it! He teases me every chance he gets. I mostly wear my glasses right now, but have contacts. I have some sort of scarring on my right eye that the doc was keeping an eye on. That's why I haven't been wearing the contacts. He's not sure what it was caused from. I wish i had money to get the surgery!

He married you Woo, so apparently men do make passes at girls who wear glasses.

Well I lured him in while I wore contacts ALL the time! I don't think he saw me with glasses until I got pink eye from them!

I put on there perfect vision.  I had Lasik done about 5 years ago.  Before that I'd been declared legally blind.  Started wearing glasses in 5th grade.  Moved to contacts in 7th.  Wore them for 20 years until my eyes revolted.  Made the move to Lasik and it's the best thing I've EVER done!!  I dare say it's probably paid for itself by now if you take into consideration the semi-annual Dr. appts, contacts, solutions etc.

I've always wanted to get Lasik done, but I don't have the money for it, and I'm a little scared.

In 3rd grade, I remember telling my mom I couldn't read the clock on the VCR from the couch anymore. She didn't think it was anything but me being silly (and she was a single mom working at Hardees at the time, so I think she was in denial.) I was also having a hard time seeing the chalk board, and was doing badly in school for the first time. Luckily, that year they did the school-wide eye test. I remember sitting in the line and my friends would come out and say, "I saw A, E, and D, what did you see?" I went in to the room, the lady told me to read off the letters, and I replied, "What letters?" She gave me a note to take to my mom, and I got glasses. So, although I got glasses in 3rd grade, I probably needed them before that.

Since you were legally blind, did you get some state aid for the Lasik? I think it varies from state to state, but here you have to have eyesight bad enough that it can't be corrected with glasses or contacts. But although my decline has decreased dramatically, I'm afraid I'll get there someday.

Entirely in denial that I need em (he said, scrunched over to see the words on the screen...)

The surgery is permanent as long as my eyes stay at this prescription.  When I begin getting far-sighted in my old-age I will have to start wearing reading glasses like everyone else.

My former boss had it done so that one eye was fixed for nearsightedness and the other done for farsightedness.  Seems like he'd go nuts, but it only took his brain a few days to get adjusted.

Hey Molly,

I missed your question up there earlier.  I was only legally blind at the Dr. office.  My glasses and/or contacts were always able to get me to 20/20 so I never looked into deductions.

I had my surgery done at an Ophthamologist that I knew from college.  My husband went to one of those cheap eye clinics to have his done.  He paid 1/2 what I did and has had the same results.

I think my doctor's office just goes by the state. Even though I don't like to go to chains for my eye doctor appointments, I started going to LensCrafters because that's what my insurance accepts, and I absolutely love my doctor. She makes fun of me for being so near sighted, but it's in good humor, so I don't mind. The last time I went, they had me sitting in the chair with my contacts out and I had my purse in my lap. The doctor said, "Here you can put your purse in this chair- oh wait, you can't see the chair, can you?"

I have good to near perfect vision, I've noticed at night I have a hard time seeing signs, but that could just be a dirty windshield....I hope.

I have perfect vision in one eye & perfect + vision in the other eye.  Unfortunately, everything looks BLACK to me because of the non-stop shades.

I wear glasses for driving... I've started wearing them at football and rugby too...especially at big grounds where you can be a bit away fromthe action...if I remember to get them out of the car
