Hey ya's.

I'm fine . . . just haven't been able to get here yet.

My day started at 4:30 with phone call from my granmother. She got up to go to the bathroom and was dizzy and faint. She was barely able to call me and I went to check on her. I called the ambulance and they took her to the ER. She's had these dizzy spells a few times and they have never really found a cause.

My dad got to the hosp. about 7:00 and I stayed at the hospital until 8:30 when I had to go get blood drawn for a cholesterol test of my own. I then went back to the hospital for a while and our pastor stopped in to check on grandma. He told me he couldn't get his laptop on the net so I went and fixed that.

By that time, it was lunch time so I ate and then went to my 1:15 haircut appointment. After that, I went back to the Dr clinic to get my test results. From there, I stopped and talked to Mrs Web for a few minutes, back home to get the dog out of the kennel, and now I'm here!

Phew . . . I need a nap.

Oh, yeah . . . you're right D.S. . . . the crazy IM lady got me too. One of the passes through, I stopped to answer one email and within 30 seconds of signing on "Ding!" - There she was . . . . "How do I ..."

Ditto what Fuzzy said. Glad yo uare such a sweet boy. Is your grandma still in the hospital? What where your results? Did the exercise help?

She's feeling better, but still in the hospital. We probably won't know anything until the dr's make rounds about 6:00. The dizzyness has gone away now and she was resting this afternoon. I think this will turn out like other times that she just gets over it in a couple days with no obvious cause.

I am VERY happy with my test results. I was expecting a small change, but not this major. I'm waiting for my Dr to call me back so I can ask her where to go from here regarding possibly cutting back on the Niacin, etc.

The results are - 3months ago - today - (normal)
Total cholesterol: 207 - 144 - (100-240)
HDL: 29 - 32 - (Greater than 30)
LDL: 98 - 44 - (Less than 130)
Triglyceride: 598 - 339 - (35-160)

So, the Triglycerides are still high, but better. My Dr said earlier that the Triglycerides will come down slower than the others. The LDL was cut in 1/2 and the HDL was increased (which is good and likely due to the fish oil).

These three month results are from taking 1000mg of Niacin/day, fish oil, cutting back on fats, and walking 1 hr. most every day. I have cut french fries and potato chips out of my diet as well as several minor things like fat free mayo on my low fat sandwich for lunch, etc.

The only "sad" thing is that this is not something I can fix and then go back to being fat and happy about. I'll have to keep working on it to maintain it. I think I can maintain what I'm doing now. If I had to do much more though, it would be pretty tough.

I just came from the hospital and grandma will be staying the night. They are thinking now that it might be some kind of inner ear problem that caused the dizzyness. I can tell she's feeling much better, she's getting cranky again.
