They are going to be here tomorrow and are practicing right outside my window.   They come to our airforce base every year. I have been once. I enjoyed it, but hate the neck ache afterwards! Anyone else like em?

These guys scared and then annoyed the heck out of me last summer while I was sitting by the ducks by the river.....then when I saw them, they were pretty cool.

The skill required for that kind of precision flying...not to mention nerves of steel for flying at those kind of speeds....pretty amazing to watch.

yea ruby they had to like cross 1/2 the town to do their turn arounds and stuff- all the way up by my house to head back to the lake- about 10 miles away!

JD they are travelling 150 to 600 miles per hour....I am surprised they didnt have to fly to Minnesota to turn around

They use to come the base every year for the air show. But alas, the base closing commission has killed another base at home and put the largest employer in the area out of work. We won't go there.


Anyway, they use to do their show but came a couple of miles over towards Mom's house as part of their pattern. They use to fly right overhead and low too. I could wave to the pilots. We could sit out on the deck and catch most of the show except for the super low stuff right above the runway.

I've seen them a few times and enjoyed every time. I've seen the Thunderbirds once and they are pretty good too.

Oh, yeah . . . the coolest thing I've seen live was the Harrier at an air show at SAC. That is really cool to see a Harrier jet hovering . . . but man! talk about noise! That thing in a hover moves a HUGE amount of air.

nah, directly above my house, all weekend long seemed to suffice...

My dad's house (where I grew up) must be in a flight path for fighters as they fly over a lot.

Many times when out working in the field, they'd play with us and try to sneak up on us and scare us. One day, a jet got my dad real good, but he buzzed my dad so low that when he flew by the windmill, his jet wash made the windmill spin around horizontally.

The town I grew up in is right next to what used to be an active duty Air Force base, so we used to see them just about every year at the air show.  My Dad's house is about a mile away from the end of one of their main runways, so we used to just sit out in the yard and watch.  Amazing stuff really!  It always freaks my husband out when I can tell him what kind of aircraft it is flying overhead without looking... just the sound it makes.
