New listening restrictions.

Alright. We've talked about it, but in about two weeks it will become reality, so I wanted to let everyone know.

In early May we will be cutting our Live365 package by about 70%. Where once we had 130 or so listeners at a time, we now only have about 55 to 60 at a time, and nearly half of those are VIPS.

SO. We will now only have 30 listener slots open.

If you are a VIP you have nothing to worry about, you can always get in. If you are NOT a VIP I recommend you log on early and do not log out until you're done listening for the day. We don't want any of our regular listeners to be locked out of the station.

If you try to log on and are told the station is full you can still try the 32k line, although that one only allows for 10 listeners slots, so it may fill up as well.

Hopefully this change won't affect any of our regulars, but we just can't keep paying for slots that aren't being used.

I think the changes at Live365, combined with IT managers that have clamped down on bandwith, combined with our format of "anything goes" has really left us in a position of no growth

If we notice a lot of sellouts in the future we can always increase the plan again to the 50 mark, and so on.

Thanks everyone!

As long as you do not shut down, we will be ok.  I am sorry this day had to come.

No, at the VERY least this is a hobby that JD & I both really enjoy, so it will not shut down unless we absolutely must.

It's still our hope that one day we'll stumble upon a way to get the word out in a big enough way that the station can take off and we can expand to 1000 slots or more.

I don't mind spending the money on it, I just can't stand to see it wasted on unused slots.

I became a VIP just a few weeks ago. I'm really glad I did.

I didn't realize how many of my listening problems were caused the player I was using (WinAmp). The VIP player is great. It shows you the song, artist, and album while it plays. It has a volume control separate from the rest of the computer. The only thing I miss from WinAmp is the equalizer, but thats not a big deal.

Being a VIP is really not very expensive when you think about how many hours of enjoyment you get for that small investment . . . and it helps the station too.

Which VIP package did you get Web? And are you set to a term contract?

Hey Web, sounds like you're doing an advertisement for VIP

I just want to point out to everyone that while we are appreciative of the VIP members (they do pay for much of our broadcast fees) we are in NO WAY trying to coax anyone into becoming a VIP.

The cutback is not an attempt to increase the VIPS and help our bottom line. I am very confident that everyone who likes to listen to the station for free right now will still be able to. When needed we will upgrade again to allow more listener slots.

If you DO however decide to become a VIP please consider doing it by using the link we have on our home page. This results in a one-time bonus of $1.50 which is taken off of our monthly fees.

its ok pip!

everyone should be able to get on, and once there's sellouts, we'll up the package again. Right now, all that is being eliminated is that which is not usually used anyhow!

no worries!

And mark my words I continue to work on trying to grow our audience! I am running out of (cheap) ideas tho...
