I am planning my next vacation here:

Ok are you going somewhere this summer? We try to do something fun every summer. This year I think I am going to arrange for us to go to the Georgia Aquarium:

Georgia Aquarium opened on November 23rd as the World’s Largest Aquarium. With 8 million gallons of fresh and marine water, and more than 100,000 animals representing 500 species from around the globe, you’re sure to see things you’ve never seen before!
more

For one day. Then head to Six Flags in Atlanta too:

Six Flags Over Georgia prepares to unleash a GIANT

Six Flags Over Georgia has unleashed a GIANT in 2006. Soaring over 200 ft. above the park and covering an area 8.5 acres in size, this much-anticipated steel monster is appropriately be called: GOLIATH.

FastLane - Virtual line queuing

If you are a rides fan, be sure to check out our Flash Pass service. Flash Pass allows you to reserve your place in line and do the waiting elsewhere. For more information and an online registration form, visit the FLASH PASS WEBSITE.

See all of our Rides OR just view our favorites.

Thrills Rides
Select a Ride or Attraction GOLIATH Shake, Rattle & Roll SUPERMAN ULTIMATE FLIGHT Mind Bender Ninja The Great American Scream Machine The Georgia Scorcher The Georgia Cyclone Batman The Ride Déjà Vu The Joker's Game Land High Striker Free Fall Rabun Gap Railroad Station Monster Plantation Acrophobia Confederate Sky Buckets Marthasville Railroad Station Thunder River Lickskillet Sky Buckets Wheelie Splashwater Falls Shooting Gallery Dodge City Bumper Cars Hanson Cars Miner's Challenge The Riverview Carousel Fearless Freeps Dare Devil Dive The Deer Park Plunge

Kids/Family Rides

And that should be all. The girl (older) is going to Europe in July and the boy's summer is still up in the air- maybe summer school, if not then lots of camps!

How about you? Have any plans? I know MZ's Florida trip is nearing!

I think this year, just another long weekend in Chicago. Have yet to go to Navy Pier, & there's an old Chicagoland Gangster Tour that would be fun and interesting to see.

This summer we are staying in England and in July having a week in a big static caravan at Haggerstone Castle in Northumberland...the very North East corner of England and more or less in Scotland:

"Haggerston Park is just a stone’s throw from Holy Island. You can explore the stunning Northumberland National Park scenery and visit the many castles that dot the coastline. The kids will love Alnwick Castle – they’ll recognise it from Harry Potter. This is the England you always wanted to find: a stunning region of country walks and strolls along a picturesque coast.
Bamburgh Castle
Haggerston is located in an historic area of castles and magnificent gardens with heritage around every corner. There’s so much to do in Northumberland: walking, cycling, fishing, golf, riding and sailing plus a year-long programme of fairs and festivals. There are also many attractive fishing villages and little seaside resorts to visit. Plus - of course - the many dramatic historical buildings. Haggerston Castle is a truly impressive location.
Places to explore

Holy Island

1. Holy Island
The Holy Island is the famous island of Lindisfarne and can only be reached at low tide and is reached by a causeway. Home to Lindifarne Castle and priory there is a lot to see and it is guaranteed that this will be a fun family day out.

Bamburgh Castle

2. Bamburgh
An unspoilt hamlet situated by long, beautiful sandy beaches. Bamburgh is the ideal place to explore North Northumberland with the main attraction being the Bamburgh Castle which dominates the landscape.

Alnwick Castle

3. Alnwick Castle
Alnwick Castle dates back to the 11th Century and with its riverside setting and fine art collection, it is a very popular attraction. Recently the Castle has been used as the back drop of the children's favourite 'Harry Potter'.

Northumberland National Park

4Northumberland National Park
398 sq. miles of beautiful windswept hills that provide breathtaking views from the moors of Cheviot Hills and the beautiful village of Holystone. You can join the National Trail and enjoy the dancing and music from the live shows.

Then in October we are taking 2 weeks in Italy on the Neapolitan Riviera...a place called Maiori.

I have never been to Italy before but I am looking forward to some class Pizza and Pasta and hopefully some warm weather before winter hits!

We took the kids to Kansas City, MO for the weekend back in May and it was great. It's only about 4 hours from home. We stayed in a 4 star hotel that was connected to a mall (I want to live there). We did something for each member of the family. My hubby wanted to go to Cabela's store, my son wanted to go to Science City and my daughter wanted to eat at the Crayola Cafe. Then we caught the I-70 series on Sunday and went to see the Cards play the Royals. My husband's goal is to see the cards play in every stadium he can. This was the first outside of Busch, but you gotta start somewhere. There was also this really neat restaurant called Fritz's that serves your food via a train. That was really cool. It was a quick trip and cost very little to do. With the jobs that my hubby and I have, we have a hard time getting away for a week, so our little 3 day trip was good for us. Next year we are going to go back.

Pip, I loved Italy, but was disappointed in the pizza. The calzone in Pisa was fantastic, though. Worst food I had in Europe - France. Best food I had in Europe - Germany. Of course, I'm a little biased. I would love to go to the UK, especially Ireland and Scotland. I would love to try forfar bridies and cloutie dumplings. For me - it's all about the food.

Those crayons were good. Mine tasted like a reuben sandwich. Amazing what they can do with crayons.

I don't know where my next vacation will be. NYC maybe. I would love to revisit New Orleans one day, but Leah Chase has to have her restaurant back up and running before that happens. I promised her I'd visit only when she re-opens.

NYC is so much fun.  Just remove all the Yankee fans, and the place is so much fun to visit!!
