My friend and neighbor, Shirley Jeffrey, is a nature photographer. She takes photos on and near the river where I used to like to sit and watch the ducks, huron, turtle, hawks. She recently underwent heart surgery, and is having a rough time recovering, as she is allergic to pain killers. On top of that she has osteo-perosis. (I know that has got to be misspelled).


I desigined a book of her photos recently, and another friend of hers developed a web-site, where some of her neat photos can be seen. Have a look!

She gave me a framed print of the A Raindrop picture which is the first one in the slideshow series. I love that pic.

Are the pictures enhanced?  Some of them don't look like straight photos.  (Too good to be true, is what I mean?)

I know some of them have a color wash/enhancement on them, but some of the ones you'd think might, don't! Just Working with sunlight, cloud, reflection, and shadow.


I just sent her an e-mail that I told the freeze frame radio forum folks about her site; I think that will make her day!

not that I know of LS, although I have only seen a sampling of her thousands of pics. I am pretty sure the central theme is river and river life. I know she has one of a deer drinking from the river, not sure about rabits tho.

thats a favorite of mine too, ruby. I usually didn't head down there much past mid-november, because of the cold, snow, ice. but the ice bells were worth the visit!

what fun!!!!  I hadn't even gotten to think about how the web of people would grow.  It is amazing what cyberspace creates.

I love the heron...I have a soft spot for herons...even my ex was called Heron (not why I married him!!!!!)


We have a park near us with a small island in the lake but near a good vantage point. It is a Heronry...they nest and raise young there...I love watching them fly into the trees and land... They look like prehistoric creatures. My girls were fascinated to see them so close last spring.


I am hoping to get a few photos this spring with my camera I got in winter...to go with my photos of other water birds that share the park

The area of the river where I used to like to sit had that 1 huron in the pic that came back for years. I loved that bird. It was just the oddest thing to see fly by. The first time I ever saw it, it flew in behind me, above my head by like 12 feet. The shadow it cast upon me and its weird call scared the bejebus out of me! Knocked me out of my chair. I thought it was a taradactyl or something for a moment there!
