I was thinking about this recording the other day, but cannot remember the artist or title.  Does anyone remember this one.  I think she was a nun teaching, and kept telling the class to shut up.  Is it in the request listing?  Would love to hear it again.

I know this one....


I believe the character is Sister Mary Elephant & the perfomers are Cheech & Chong.  I believe the good Sister appeared on several of the albums but the one I had was "Los Cochinos".  She was on a track called "Sargeant Stadanko".


Man.  It's been a long time since I even thought of that.

Ok, maybe you can help me too!


I am trying to remember a ballad 70's or 80's that the chorus is Please don't go la da da da da da, please don't go la da da da da da. It's a really whiney song and has female back up doing the la da da da da da part. Lady Strange and I have been working a few days trying to figure it out. It's driving me nuts!

It's been driving me nuts, too!  Can you tell us the style?  Rock ballad?  Depeche Mode type of keyboardy new wave?  Soulful?

That would be the best- Sing it into the phone.  Even when someone isn't a great singer, that can really be the key to figuring it out.  When I worked at record stores, I'd always make the customer sing whether they were embarrassed, off key, whatever.

Molly, Do you ever listen to the Bob and Tom Show? I know Ray does, They did a spoof on Thursday of the song. Maybe since they are close to you, you can call them and ask who sang the original?

"Don't Go" by The Hothouse Flowers? It's a little up-tempo to be considered a ballad, and I don't hear any "Crimson & Clover" type thing, but they are singing "la la la la"s in the chorus.
