From the headlines...

Ok I saw this story on the news this am about a gas station that had a malfunction. It was in Indiana. Anyway, gas was like .002 a gallon. Well some  redneck filled up his tank and then called a bunch of people with boats and SUVS and they all proceeded to fill up large vehicles for 7 cents average total! Well the guy acted like he was in the right cause gas is so high. I GUARANTEE that gas station owners are not happy about the price of gas. Their profits are going down! We are not buying that much at the gas station. After shelling out 55 bucks for gas- I do not want to buy a 1.25 soda. So I feel bad for the gas station owner who will ultimately lose out BIG time If it was me- I would be PISSED. If I was the driver- I would be honest and not take it. Someone always pays

I am torn here. There is something to be said for competence and responsibility here on behalf of the merchant. If I personally knew the owner to be a good, hard-working honest person, of course I notify him of the problem.  And if not, and I knew my conscience would not let me rest, of course I tell. But if I know him to be a scumbag or or crook or what-ever, I walk.

A few months ago, this check-out lady was so wrapped up in a conversation with her friends/co-workers that she didn't charge me for a bottle of wine. Carded me, but didn't scan. It was so obvious that all the items she was bagging cost more than $10!?!

But no greeting, I was like an annoyance that she had to actually work when trying to talk. I didn't say a word and walked out with the wine. If we go up a level, I can blame the store for hiring incompetent and lazy workers whos mistakes cost the store money.

However, if it was someone new, or someone who had made an honest mistake while trying to do their jobs, I garentee you I'd be the first to say "don't forget to scan the wine."

I too have benefited from unscanned items. I also know that I was charged two times for items. So maybe it just evens out!

     I'm not torn . Just wish I could have been there ;

     Hey idiot at the counter , when was the last time someone bought .75cents worth of gas ? followed buy another 25 people doing the same thing ? You wouldn't be friends with them would you ?

     Hey drivers , try not to let that grin get in the way of the steering wheel ,wouldn't want you to lose control and crash into another thief ( yes , I said thief ) and cause a great fireball from 45 gallons of gas spilling out .

Unfortunately, I am jealous. I probably wouldn't have notice until I was finished filling up. I put the pump in and then go do the windows. When it is almost full, I watch the gallons and then round out the price. But filling up for .04 would have been nice. The oil companies are making so much money anyway, they can afford to give me a free tank.

But it won't be Exxon that pays- it will be the store owner!

On Dave's front- I bet they all paid at the pump. SO the dingy cahsier probably knew nothing.

That guy I know that owns a convenience store admitted that the gas is the convenience and the stuff inside the store is the profit.

I read or heard about that too Web come to think of it. Gas is the draw, but its that 45 cent chicklets or 89 cent any size coffee in line where the station owners get their money.
