HAnk Aaron was one of the purest power hitters...with such quick wrists that there was no doubt about the genuineness of his record.
And while threre is no evidence (yet) of Bonds link to steroids...baseball is in an awkward position. With the steroid cloud hanging over his head, do they recognize the authenticity of his achievement?
Bonds is also a very unlikable figure which may be the reason baseball isnt looking the other way .
I feel sorry for Aaron, who broke the record under real stress of death threats and racial tension. I feel sorry for Bonds because he has made himself an island...so unaccesible...and will proabably wind up being villified instead of glorified.
