Hey AC, you better watch what you wish for!

I'm actually thinking about coming out there this fall to buy some land or maybe even a cheap house or trailer with some land. But I definately want to buy something out there this year. Start planning for the ol' retirement

What area do you want to be in?

Does the station have a retirement fund? all this time I thought you did it out of the goodness of your heart. To keep the working folks from going musicless.

In Addition-

Chocolate may boost brain power

Chocolate lovers rejoice. A new study hints that eating milk chocolate may boost brain function.

"Chocolate contains many substances that act as stimulants, such as theobromine, phenethylamine, and caffeine," Dr. Bryan Raudenbush from Wheeling Jesuit University in West Virginia noted in comments to Reuters Health.

"These substances by themselves have previously been found to increase alertness and attention and what we have found is that by consuming chocolate you can get the stimulating effects, which then lead to increased mental performance."

To study the effects of various chocolate types on brain power, Raudenbush and colleagues had a group of volunteers consume, on four separate occasions, 85 grams of milk chocolate; 85 grams of dark chocolate; 85 grams of carob; and nothing (the control condition).

After a 15-minute digestive period, participants completed a variety of computer-based neuropsychological tests designed to assess cognitive performance including memory, attention span, reaction time, and problem solving.

"Composite scores for verbal and visual memory were significantly higher for milk chocolate than the other conditions," Raudenbush told Reuters Health. And consumption of milk and dark chocolate was associated with improved impulse control and reaction time.

Previous research has shown that some nutrients in food aid in glucose release and increased blood flow, which may augment cognitive performance. The current findings, said Raudenbush, "provide support for nutrient release via chocolate consumption to enhance cognitive performance."

lol,

Well, I won't be retiring from the station, but JD is gonna have one hell of a commute every Sunday night.

I'm interested in the southwestern most corner of SD Allycat. Edgemont, Hot Springs, etc.

I love the fact that even in January they get hit with the occassional 60 degree day.

I also love being near the black hills, and a quick drive to Deadwood

I'd like to buy a home now, and either rent it out if I can find someone trustworthy, or use it as a vacation home until I retire.

When I was pregnant with little A, I had an article that said mothers who ate chocolate daily produced happy babies, those who did not indulge had fussy babies. I ate a lot and I do mean alot of chocolate.

AC,

Just because it's the best weather in the state and the most beautiful part of the state.

further north you might as well be in North Dakota (too cold) and further east is kind of boring. Lotta flat land, no mountains to look at

Plus I know you guys are on the eastern side and I'm afraid if I live too close Sparky will borrow all my power tools

Actually we are western as well, about an hour away from Hot Springs. He doesn't need to borrow what his parents keep giving him for gifts. For Christmas they gave him a saw, an electric saw. Do they not know their son? or perhaps they have life insurance on him too.....

Really! I thought you guys were on the eastern side! Cool!

I'll have to treat two of our best listeners to dinner when I'm out there! Think about which happy meal you'll want and I'll have them prepare it in advance for us! (Just kidding, I'd pop for something nicer )

Another thing I loved about Edgemont is that it appears to be a ghost town. Very run down. Houses were going for $9,000 to $20,000 there!! Nothing wrong with gettin' yerself a fixer-upper if you can get it THAT cheap!

Hot Springs seemed to be a "Hot Property" and the housing costs were a lot higher there, but it seemed like such a nice little town.

Hill City is also really nice, a little touristy (don't mind me just making up words again) but it's nice, quiet and close enough to Rapid City for grocery stores ect..

Spark,

I was in Deadwood, but I also visited Hot Springs, Edgewood, Yale (on the eastern side), some major city in the middle but I don't remember the name.

The city in the middle (might be your capital) had a beautiful house, HUGE, like 5 bedroom, for only $24,000. But at the time I just didn't have the cash and it was sold in about two weeks.

This fall I'd like to just come out for a week or two and spend all my time scoping out the various areas, see if something grabs me. But this time I'll come armed with some cash so I can make a move if I find something I like.

Allycat, no harm in making up your own words. I like to combine words to make new words, like the old sniglets.

My two favorites are Homid or Homidity (Hot & Humid)

and Stressure (as in I'm under alot of Stress & Pressure).

I figure I save about 4 seconds a year by combining those. I use the extra time to work on building the playlist.
