Woo Hoo- can I borrow your hubby?

To come and KILL the deer that ate EVERYTHING in my garden?

Every morning E and I travel out to our garden to see what is new. This week it has been the death of the orange day lillies, but the blooming of the yellow ones had started Tuesday. Imagine my horror when I went outside this am- all were gone- 60 pansies, 10 lillies and every rose off all 9 bushes It was a dang deer and I want it DEAD.

Awwwwwwwwww, the deer was hungry.

You should leave a salt lick out for him and then he'd leave your flowers alone Ruby.

I have heard orange peels will repel animals but not hurt anything, or they sell deer begone at our local greenhouses.

Salt lick? Does that repel or attract him to another part of the yard?

Orange peels I will try WHEN I HAVE SOME FRIGGEN FLOWERS

It attracts them, they need salt in their diet and don't get much

You can usually get em' at a Farm N' Fleet, or even a bigger hardware store Ruby.

They're huge blocks of salt. like a foot or foot and a half cube of salt.

It'll last for a year atleast. Unless he starts bringing his friends.

No I want to repel him, not feed him. Hence a gun might be best

I just read an article about how wild animals are getting braver and encroaching more and more on humans and city space....the eco system must be way out of wack

YOU LEAVE THAT DEFENSELESS DEER ALONE RUBICON! OR SO HELP ME!!!!!

It's not like he's gonna be across town and think "hey, that woman on the other side of town has that delicious salt lick, I think I'll head over there".

It's just that once he's ALREADY in your yard he'll PREFER it over your flowers.

You know, if you REALLY want to repel him though, you could wait outside for him to show up and then start telling him about your day That always sends me running when women try to do it

The GF&P are killing mountain lions here for being in some ones yard in the hills.

Also, my grandma has a "pet" squirrel, that eats out of her hand.

Dylan- I live in front of some wetlands. Our area is new and still getting built around. We just had a Super Walmart displace a lot of wildlife right down the end of my neighborhood.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm . . . . Jerky . . . .

That same thing happened to my dad a year ago. He had about 1/2 acre of sweet corn that was just a couple weeks from being ready. A bunch of deer came in the night and trampled the whole patch to the ground.

Its almost like they are organized . . . some kind of deer mafia.

See, here is another perfect situation where we need the appropriate Homer emoticon or jpeg.

Sorry about your flowers Ruby, but I don't think Hubby would kill the deer. Hubby enjoys watching wildlife too! We have deer in our yard that he always checks for. He jokes about shooting them, but he never would out of season. i would try some of those other suggestions.
