The Languages Of Work

Hey!

What can you say using acronyms, products, work-specific words, that only the people you work with would understand!?

Right now, with the 6115 down and the 2180 being switched out, I can't work on LPI!

I have never understood us processing the French Buc files when the product is never ordered. Converting A-5 can sometimes pixilate the graphics unless the file is re-ripped to fit tabloid.

In the philanthropic world, everything is acronyms!

If you would like to donate to a child that has ASL and needs a BMT contact your local OPO. I can look that up at OPTN. You can also contact UNOS, NBMT or NMDP. If you are interested in being a renal donor, UNOS would be your best bet. (And no, that does not mean donating your ahole boss.)

Adults who need assistance should call NFT or NTAF. But we can work with adults who have CF and need a dbl lung.

I did FCFU before the O date, but I didn't talk to the SW at UCLA. (Again, not what you're thinking!) Xplant sched 6/7/06.

And everyone in our office would know what this means:
Smith, c, n, multiv, New York, NY, XXX, 1-Jun, To Do, 7-Jun, BS

Well, I think it's safe to translate mine.

ASL is a type of leukemia.
BMT- bone marrow transplant
OPO- organ procurement organization (these are the main organ donation/allocation people)
OPTN - Organ Procurement and Transplantation Network
UNOS - United Network of Organ Sharing (who the OPOs report to)
NBMT - National Bone Marrow Transplant link
NMDP - National Marrow Donor Program
renal - kidney
NFT - National Foundation for Transplants
NTAF - National Transplant Assistance Fund
CF - Cystic Fibrosis, a disease that often creates a tar like mucus in the lungs. Most patients are diagnosed as a child, but don't need the dbl lung (double lung) transplant until they are adults.
FCFU - first contact follow up
O date - orientation date
SW - social worker
UCLA - just like is sounds, the University of California in Los Angeles. They've got a big transplant center.
Xplant sched 6/7/06- the transplant is scheduled for June 7th, 2006. This is usually only done when there is a living donor.

And finally, the patient's last name is Smith
they are a child
not transplanted
needs a multivisceral transplant (which is multiple organs in the intestinal area, usually intestinal, pancreas, kidney, stomach, etc.)
the fundraising is in New York
we have all 3 key volunteers
the CC (campaign coordinator [lead volunteer]) was trained on June 1st
the TR (trustee) needs trained
The on site training for all volunteers is June 7th.
And the person doing the onsite training has the initials BS. (Yes, those are really her initials.)

nobody here at work knows what LPI actually stands for! We just call it that and let it be without digging to find the answer!

We need you to send a DOORS and do an ODDR out of an account for the sum. Also contact RPO and have them put a stop on the ACH so funds won't go out every month. Mkay!

Yeah, well, just SSH in on port 22, cd to /usr/sbin and chown all the files to root then chmod them 700. After that just chattr +i them and no body will ever be able to make any further modificaions on them. Just don't forget your SSH password or BFD will lock you out through APF and you'll not get back in without physical access to the console.

That command would search the email log for "freezeframeradio.com" and break up the output into a format that could be viewed line by line or page by page.

Tragically, I know the horror of Gig-E being down. Couldn't tell you the number of OC-48's up in my day.  Want some real fun?  Check out what happens when somebody throws a bad software load on your SBC.  You get all kind of 408's and RSIP storms. I really could go through my stacks of NTPs and MOPs to really hit you up with the acronyms, but it just gets too confusing because most of them actually have multiple meanings and which one you want depends on context of the conversation.

Please always remember and don't ever forget... be sure you get your FOC back from the ILEC in time to meet your CWD. I'd hate to have to gig you on your LINK because your MTTR on your TRS tickets is too high!!

Well, With iConnect down, and the SCIC unavailable, everything has to be directed to the handlers at the FCO's, even w/o Claim#'s. But only SRS AOL's & WC's & CMS WC's can go to the standard FCO's, CMS AOL'S need to go to the WCLCSC or the SECLCSC. But remeber ALL CMS goes through LossConnect Before you try CI.

Hmmm does your LOA mean the same as my LOA? Leave Of Absence.

That is my all time favorite company commercial!  Pambo and I dance to that song every time we hear it!  Scenes similar to that happen in our office all the time!!

My second favorite commercial was the "Security Feature" one where the two guys are talking in the locker room and the one guy throws his phone at the other guy to demonstrate how we protect our customers.
