I don't think its real. I only got maybe into a minute of it, and having aol, and having cancelled it for my folks, this just didn't sound authentic. I had no problem.

Well my hubby's ex couldn't cancel AOL for about a year after her hubby died. They made a big deal because it was in his name and she didn't know any of the passwords and such.

Aparently I've mentioned before that I'm not real fond of AOL?
I get spam complaints from AOL all the time. Many people have a site hosted on my servers but then don't use the email on their domain. Many create "forwarders" that will let them make email addresses on their domain but the email is then forwarded on to their AOL (or other) accounts.
Everything gets forwarded, even spam. These AOL users then use the handy "report spam" button in their email system. Since the last bounce came through the forwarder they set up on my server, AOL thinks the mail came from my servers. AOL isn't smart enough to figure out the real sender from the email headers. So, in effect, these users report their own web host as a spam source.
I think it is legit too- I too have gotten the run around when trying to cancel accoutns. They are paid to try to get you to change your mind and probably have a ready made list of answers for everything you say.
I would have asked for a manager too! What a butt!
