Hot Summer Nights

What are some of your favorite Summer night memories?

When I was about 14 We had a group of friends in my neighborhood that would meet at one particular street light and just hang out and talk every night from 6:00 to at least 10:30. Girls and guys. We would sometimes do stupid things like go bat fishing around the street light. We would tie a piece of meat to a fishing pole and cast it into the air at them. It was almost like our own version of the Wonder years. You knew exactly who Winnie Cooper was, who Kevin was and you always had a Paul.

Duran Duran concert at Jones Beach.  Gorgeous weather- perfect breeze blowing through dress/hair, and great music.  Just an awesome summer night where everything in the world felt right.  (Don't get that feeling so much these days.  )

Gosh there are so many- we had a pool and we used to get people to sneak over at night and swim- my parents were asleep! During the day we always had guests too! We had a park that we hung out at and always met new meat, oops I mean guys, there! And Poplar Creek was an outdoor venue that rocked in the Chicgo area.

well, I will stick to childhood memories here. Just doin the big-wheel tricycle demolition derbys and the dirt wars in the alley until the street lights came on.

I could have the last sip of beer from my dads' can if I ran in and got him another one when he was working on the boat or car.

I must have been 5 or 6 and I remember it being like 100 degrees outside when I took this sledge hammer and knocked out the dry wall between 2 studs in the garage. When my dad asked my why I did this, I said because it was awesome.  I went unpunished, in fact I think he was proud.

The real great summer night memories are when my friends and I used to go to the dirt track races. Allycat was dating a mutual aqaintance and we would flirt back and fourth with each other. Little did we know it would only take about two years before our paths would colide and we were together.

Catching lightning bugs as a kid.

As a teen, one of my favorite memories was while living in KC, Mo.  I was working at a theme park called Worlds of Fun.  I paired up with a coworker after work, we did the roller coasters and the park until dark then went to the scheduled concert that evening.  I don't remember even who the band was.  All I can remember is during the set up Dire Straights "Brother in Arms" was being played.   We were in the grass seats, the night air was balmy and breezy, and the music made the night perfect.   Aaaahhh, young love.  (That was our one and only date.  After that, We went back to being friends the rest of the summer and acted like nothing had ever happened).  But.... I did go out and buy that CD and think about whateverhisname was every time I listen to it.

My new summer night memory is taking Little A to the park and enjoying the look on her face.
