We got a problem. Suggestions?

I was emailing back and forth with Dan Shafer, the artist who's song we added earlier this week to the playlist.

He was trying to tune in, but having trouble because when he clicked the link to 64k all he got was the live365 directory.

I haven't heard back yet, but I'm guessing it's another situation where a pop-up blocker is doing us in. I'm growing seriously concerned that this is a much bigger issue for us than previously thought. We get a LOT of people who come to the website and never tune in, perhaps because they can't!

The obvious answer for now is a large disclaimer across the front of the website saying "You may need to temporarily disable your pop-up blocker in order to tune in", but I'm not sure thats the long-term solution.

Any idea's?

This is really frustrating and I think it's a big part of why our growth has been slower than we have hoped considering our promotional efforts.

he needs to hold down the control key before he hits the 64K until the window pops up. That will do the trick!

I get the same response, then I search for "Freeze" in their search engine.  the 64k feed is listed 1st and the 32k feed is next.  Just click on the 64k feed button and you have what you need to listen...all day...and all of the night!

I told him how to bypass the pop-up blocker.

I'm more concerned about the ones that never bother to go beyond "Oh, I pressed the button and it didn't work, I guess I can't listen" and then leave, never to return.

We have to figure out a better way to get people tuning in :(

live 365 has a error thing that pops up and tells you how to get past it. I think most people get that.

everytime I click on the 64 , or the other button  it takes me to the 365 page , then about a second later the player window opens . its been this way since day 1.  maybe he needs to register with 365 and select FFR as a favorite ?

My buddy I.M.'d me last night that he couldn't get his laptop to listen to FFR any more. He just kept saying "it won't play".

We spent about an hour trying to figure out what was wrong. Finally, I asked him to go click on the play button and tell me exactly what happened.

So he did . . .

"I'm clicking play now"
"Real Player is opening"
"Now, nothing"
I said: Nothing at all?
"Well, some commercial is playing, but no music . . . here, let me stop that"
I said: Do you get that commercial every time?
"Yes"
I said: Have you ever let the commercial play all the way through?
"No, let me try that"

Yay! Tunes again!

If he reads this, he'll be mad at me, but even he'll have to admit it was kind of funny.

lol.

Yeah, a lot of people just don't know what to expect and get confused when that directory comes up.

I'm trying to figure out how to write it into the html to embed a player with the stream directly into the homepage, so that the station plays as soon as you arrive automatically. But so far no luck.

I don't know that you can . . . Doesn't each stream have session info in it that is specific to evey listener? I just know that I've tried to bookmark just the stream in the past and the next time, I logged in, it wouldn't play because that session had expired.

I'm not sure web. On some of my computers I've been able to just hit play and it starts playing. On RealPlayer I can bookmark it and I never have to go through the live365 stuff at all anymore.

On Itunes, once it's in your player you just double click it and the stream starts, it doesn't ask for an ID or open any webpages of live365's.

Each of those players seems to use a different stream. Like Itunes is http://www.live365.com/play/303574

Once that's in your library you're good to go forever, without ever even knowing it has anything to do with live365 other than the short commercial at the signon each time

Hmm, ok . . . Until I got the VIP player, I just used Winamp but I always had to log into Live365 to get a session ID then it would play. I don't know nuttin' 'bout no eyetunes and I avoid RealPlayer like the viral marketing scheme that it is.
