  A few years back Ken Burns made a film about  Lewis and Clark and the Corp of Discovery . It musta been kinda neat to be out in the middle of no-where on the 4th of July with a flag a fiddle and a bottle , not knowing what the 5th would bring but not afraid to find out .

 That to me is the "American spirit " , reaching past today before tomorrow becomes yesterday .

  sigh , that was one boat ride I sorely wish I could have been on .

  PS- it's on dvd at pbs or you can try Barnes n Noble . It has a great soundtrack also .

  PPS-  I think it should be required for all kids to see, probly wouldn't hurt for a few adults to see it either.
