Anf or Woo Hoo

How many seasons (and which ones if you know) was Alyson Hannigan a part of Buffy The Vampire Slayer?

D'oh!

WERE DO I BUY EM'!

I was on the fence, but that's it, I gotta check this show out.

You guys talk about it like it's the greatest show ever. I already knew Sarah Michelle Gellar was in it, but Alyson Hannigan is the icing on the cake!

WOO HOO! I won't need cable this fall, I'll be watching years worth of Buffy!

Hey Anf, I thought I heard you guys discuss a box set, but DEEP DISCOUNT DVD doesn't show one. Is there one available? Or were talking about something that is coming out in the future?

there was a deluxe "Chosen Collection" box set that included all 39 previously released discs (packaged together with a new box) and a bonus disc with some newly produced extras, but it was very limited edition and is getting harder and harder to find, even though the FYE here has a copy (I ordered it early and cheap).

I have been rewatching the series in order this summer and falling in love with it again, I just finished season 4.   I bought the Angel seasons on ebay because I am hungry to revisit that series again.   Between Buffy and Angel, that's 254 kickass episodes (okay, there's a couple clunkers every season, give or take, but still...).

I also am planning on getting the Roswell DVD's sometime, I used to love that show and it'd be nice to see again (and Katherine Heigl from Grey's Anatomy was on that)

Well, if the seasons are all that's readily available I'll probably wait til' November to get started then.

Deep Discount DVD has a Christmas sale in November where everything's 20% off their already very low prices. That's usually when I stock up.

Thanks for the info!

right now, Amazon has all 7 seasons for $22.99 a piece, $39.99 retail so it's a nice deal, especially since they used to retail for $59.99

the more expensive sets (the ones that are $45ish on ebay) are the original sets, in the foldouts,  but the $22 versions are in the nice slimcase sets.   It's definately an investment you won't regret,  I have turned several friends onto the show and they became rabid diehards too.   Even though I wouldn't rush to an opinion about the show after season 1 though, season 2 is really when the show takes off IMO.

Cooler yet! Thanks again for all the info!

I really try to stay away from the cardboard foldouts.

They did the same thing with the X-Files. I bought seasons 1 through 5 for about $80 a peice in those crappy foldouts.

I eventually sold em.

Then they releases the entire 9 seasons in slimcases for $30 a season! On sale I got all of em' for about $22 a peice.

I'm only through season six so far. I watch an episode every night before bed. When that wraps up I'll make the switch to Buffy.

JR, don't base it only on the first season. But, you'll probably get hooked anyway.

I think I must have saw a few of season 1 or 2? It was ok because I liked willow. Sorta like watching that Trading Spaces show when Paige was on because she was hot, or liking rachel ray cooking because she's hot!

fast forward to like seaon 5 and here is willow with her girlfriend......unforgivable! I never watched another. This was not the willow I knew....

Boy. Everyone makes season one sound HORRIBLE. It never would have made it to a season two if it were debuting in todays TV environment.

yeppers, season one sets up the characters and everything.   But for the most part, the first season is more of a fun campy series about teenagers and "monsters of the week".  Season 2 is when the show really gets deeper and becomes more arc-driven and you begin to really care about these people.

If you're getting into the show for Alyson Hannigan, then that's a good thing.   While Buffy/Gellar is the star of the show, Willow/Hannigan is really the character I loved the best, in the latter seasons I think she does a better job than Sarah does, especially in the last two seasons when you can tell that Sarah is tired of the show and wants to move on, Alyson gives some of her best performances during that time.

If you love Buffy, other shows I'd recommend to check out would be Angel (well, that one is a given, it's a spinoff of Buffy), Roswell (only ran three seasons but was a total gem), Supernatural (going into it's sophomore season this fall,  very good,  X-Files meets Buffyish) and the early seasons of Charmed (after season 4, the show goes from intriguing sci-fi drama to a kiddie fantasy show, but of course, the emphasis on Alyssa Milano getting into situations that have her naked a lot in the later seasons might actually make you want to see those, lol).

in the US, only "Once More, With Feeling" from season 6 is in widescreen, the rest are fullscreen.   Angel, however, goes widescreen in season 2.  The reasoning.  Joss wanted Angel to have more of a "cinematic" feel.
