This is pretty neat- but my answers are not what I expected!

A man (M) and a lady (L) who are very much in love, and devoted to one another are separated by a river with no way of getting across to the other side. On L's side of the river, there is a boatman (B) who is able to take her over to the other side of the river but refuses to do so unless she pays him a price of $100, twice his normal fare. L has no money. Another man (S) then tells L that he will giver her $100 if she sleeps with him. L agrees to do so and on receiving the $100, pays B who takes her over to the other side of the river.

She is reunited with M and they are very happy together. However, a friend of M (F) finds out what L did with S and immediately tells M. On learning the news, M finds L and ends things with her, stating that he wants nothing more to do with her. Your task is to rank these five people, M, L, B, S, and F, from best to worst. i.e. best person to worst person.

I would challenge this test and say it is far too simplistic and seriously flawed.

Furthermore, it's a bit of trickery. For example, I ranked Sex as most important, which makes it sound like I think Sex is the most important thing in life, but in reality I just found the use of sex to get what she wanted to be wrong. It twists your intentions into something else entirely.

BAD TEST! THROW IT OUT! NO GOOD!

I ranked them the same way, JR. I agree that this test is flawed for the very same reason. I would think extorting sex from someone would be the worst. However, upon reviewing the post, I think we did it backwards and rated from worst to best instead of best to worst like Ruby said to do. Going from best to worst I would have went M, B, F, L, S. Now I'm totally confused. I still think it's flawed. I place love before business, but can't condone what L did to get to M.

Yeah Trish. I cut the business guy slack because he wasn't doing anything TOO horrible. It's not reasonable to expect him to do the job for free, afterall, he has expenses and it IS business. The price gouging dropped him a bit in my scoring, but that's certainly a part of business as well unfortunately. The greater the need the higher the price. Gas is a good example.

Now i'm satisfied with my results though.

M, not first because he dumped her without figuring love in
F, because she should've consulted L before telling M
S, kind of because I saw it as a business transaction

There is another version of this test called the Robin Hood test... I like this one more because all five characters are guilty to some degree:

The Sheriff of Nottingham captured Little John and Robin Hood and imprisoned them in his maximum-security dungeon. Maid Marion begged the Sheriff for their release, pleading her love for Robin. The Sheriff agreed to release them only if Maid Marion spent the night with him.To this she agreed. The next morning the Sheriff released his prisoners. Robin at once demanded that Marion tell him how she persuaded the Sheriff to let them go free. Marion confessed the truth, and was bewildered when Robin abused her, calling her a slut, and saying that he never wanted to see her again. At this Little John defended her, inviting her to leave Sherwood with him and promising life-long devotion. She accepted and they rode away together.

Now in terms of realistic every-day standards of behaviour, put Robin, Marion, Little John and the Sheriff in the order in which you consider they showed the most morality and honesty. There is no "right" answer, and the link shows the psychologist's estimate of you for each of the 24 arrangements
