I have all my albums backed up as MP3 files on DVD's.
All my computers, when I put the DVD into them, scan the disc and then open it as a data folder showing all the folders of music that are on the disc.
But this new computer I just bought keeps opening it and showing it as a single CD Audio file with no data in it.
Is this something I can fix in windows? Or would that be a problem with the CD drive?
I know this is probably not your area, but I figured it never hurts to check with the Tech Guy. Plus if you can't help me it's another thing I can blame you for!
If you hold and keep holding the Shift key as you close the Disc tray, that should disable the auto-run on the drive. Then, you should be able to browse the contents of the Disc. That will tell you if you can at least view and open whats on the Disc. If that works, then its a matter of finding how to change the associations in Windoze to make it stop being stupid.
Awww dang. I tried that but it still shows up as an audio CD. I wonder if it has something to do with the fact this is a dual layer DVD drive and the discs were burned on a regular drive.
I'll have to hookup my external drive, that'll probably work.
JR, Put in the disk, and close out of anything that auto-plays. Then go to My Computer and right-click on the drive. Go to Properties, and there should be an AutoPlay tab. In the AutoPlay tab, there should be a drop down list so you can select what type of CD/DVD it is.
Man, I hope this works, I want to know something that Web doesn't!
I did do try your idea though, and set them all to open a folder. But for some reason this drive sees it as a single file audio CD when in reality it's a multi-file data CD.
