I was on the edge of grumpy this morning. When I went home for lunch, I walked in the door, and greeted my husband with our usual greeting: "Hey Babe." He responded back, "Hey babe. You look good!" Whoosh! My bad mood was instantly destroyed. I'm happy, I'm optimistic, nothing can stand in my way!
When other people give me a compliment, it's graciously accepted, but there is nothing like getting a compliment from my husband.
So I'm serious. If you think your wife (or girlfriend or whatever) looks nice, even if she didn't even do anything special, tell her so. (Wives can go home and tell their husbands they look nice, but I don't think that will have the same effect.) And hey, being around a wife in a good mood means she's less likely to nag you!
Actually, arent' those always the best? Just like a gift. On occassion I've had someone give me a gift, just a little something, and say "here, I saw this and I thought of you so I bought it". That just makes your day. No birthday, no holiday, just an "I was thinking of you" gift.
Heck, I feel like that just getting song dedications.

Yeah, I'm happy to be a complimenter. When someone wears a shirt that I like, or a pretty necklace, or something like that, I always say so. In fact, I've been known to double compliment (say the same thing every time someone wears that particular item).
