World Trade Center is out tomorrow!

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Are you gonna reserve your thoughts until you see it?

WILL you see it?

I've heard a lot of moaning and groaning on talk-tv and radio that it's too soon, or that it's not right to make a movie of it. But I don't think I agree with that. If it's a respectful representation of what happened it makes sense that our art would capture it.

No one complained when all the songwriters started putting out songs about 9/11, I'm not sure why this is any different.

Thoughts?

too soon. its the same thing as when they were coming out with John Wayne propoganda WWII movies while the war was still on. Its not far away enough yet to be made into a made for profit movie. it angers me.

I've heard that it is well done. I saw United 93 so I would see this one if Hubby wants to.

I don't have a problem with it being out....as long as the families get some kind of share in the profits AND had enough input into it being made.

Personally, I have no desire to go to the movies and see it. I might rent it someday, but I think life is tough enough as it is so to see it might be rough. I found it hard to read Let's Roll and watch Flight 930 I have to be in the right mood.

I want to visit the WTC sight in say- 2011 with my daughter -explain it a little to her- and pay tribute in person.

I bought a couple DVD documentaries and a nice coffee table book called "On Hallowed Ground".

I've made a habit of pulling them out and watching the videos and paging through the book every September 11'th. Just to remember it all.

I was working from home that day and watched every moment of it live. I'll never forget the feeling that day. For the first time feeling truly unsafe and wondering what was next. It seemed every 15 minutes a news report was breaking about another area under attack.

Then the uncertainty of where certain planes were for about an hour and wondering if they were heading to unknown targets.

Very very sobering day.

many many falicies and perceptions that I believed in and held were destroyed that day. I am sure most feel the same way.

Riggs, I and our friends Lisa and Ang were to go to a brewers game that day. of course, the games were called off. so we just grilled out instead and celebrated life and our friendship that day. and we have done so every sept 11th since then.

I have never seen as many cars backed up at gas pumps as I did that day, and I don't think I ever saw sooo many parents outside playing with their children then on that day.

Imagine how I felt going to work the next month or so next to the Sear Tower. Scarier than hell. SImply commuting that first week was scary. That morning I stayed home because my Grandpa died shortly before and his wake was to be 9/11th. Most of the attendees were talking about what happened. My Grandpa was in the air force so his coffin was draped with a US flag- which really stood out. WHile I wasn't downtown that day I heard from many that being near the Tower was eerie- that people were leaving en masse- a mass exodus. Like you said, sobering.

But those people will never bring down the American spirit- they will never win.

In hindsight JD I am KICKING myself for trading those tickets in. It would have been worth the $28 for a new ticket to keep the original as a reminder of the night.

I still am in awe when I think about how a WEEK later they were doing the CNBC newscast from a roof about six blocks away from ground zero and IT WAS STILL SMOKING!!!

I can't even begin to imagine if it would've happened there...I just can't.

I can say this much- lots of people I work or worked with used to hang out in the bars/restaurants/cafes in the tower. All that changed after 9-11. Those restaurant owners must've lost BIG money becuase who the hell wants to go through metal detectors just to grab a sandwich for lunch? or for a drink afer work? no one. I used to stop in there every morning for cofee and a croissant and just chill...this place in there always used to play Level 42 (why I request lots of those songs)...those were good times.

I know they have a few up there- one is a members only club where we had our christmas party for a few years until some employees started complaining that they coudln't look out the window because they were afraid of heights.

People can be so weird!

now I realize this is all a bit preliminary, but I was kind of thinkin- ruby is coming to chicago next year for her high school reunion and her riggs and I are going to meet. You've mentioned meeting too and I know you work near the sears tower. Riggs and I could hop amtrak which lets out right there. we could all do lunch? maybe?

Good thinkin' JD. Maybe over lunch Cheese can explain to me why I shouldn't dislike her state so much.
