A great salad

Allright, I know there is practically NO reason to share this info, but I'm gonna anyway because I'm so excited about how good it was.

I made a salad for supper today. Nice big tomato chunks, some cucumber cubes, chopped up some pickles, diced in an onion, put a little salt and pepper on it.

Normall I sprinkle some lemon juice on it, and then some fat free Zesty Italian dressing.

Today I felt like something different so I skipped the lemon juice and mixed in some Tabasco sauce with the italian dressing.

WOWSER! That was sooooooooooooooooooo good! My mouth was still burnin' two hours later but it was the best salad I think I ever had!

GONNA DO IT AGAIN TOMORROW!

WOO HOO!

Yeah, i don't know what made me think to do it, I just saw the bottle of tabasco in the fridge and thought "gee, I bet that would spice the salad up". It sure did! I think blending it in with the dressing helped keep it from being TOO overpowering, but it definately gave the salad a nice spicy zing!

I discovered a salad dressing that I can't live without now. I put it on more than just salads now, too. It's by Marie's and it's Blue Cheese Buffalo - it's awesome. I put it on potatoes, salad, and even have it with chicken, fish, veggies, etc. It has enough kick but not too much. Just right.

I'm that way with a Hidden Ranch Honey Mustard Mayonaisse salad dressing. I like it on just about anything, but expecially a hamburger.

Nope, never had em'

I usually don't like hot stuff, which is why I can't figure out what made me try the tabasco today.

The only thing I have it for is bloody mary's.

Hey JD, you're a seasonings guy, any thoughts on what seasonings add a special somthing to a salad?

I'm really trying to find ways to switch up the flavor a bit since I've been eating more of them.

By the way, HOLY CRAP are tomatos expensive! I paid nearly $3.80 for two lousy tomatoes today! Granted they were BIG ones, but still!

I saw some Green Goddess Dressing last night at the grocery store. It was green, but I could not tell what it might taste like by the ingredients? Anyone tried it?

I think I've tried that before Ruby. If I remember right, it was very mild, but really good.

I had an awesome slad the other night too. Some leaf lettuce, frech cucumber, fresh mushrooms, green bell pepper, a strip of bacon crumbled on top, fresh grated colby jack cheese, and some homemade buttermilk dressing.

I think you're thinking of these Annie's Naturals...

They're awesome - I highly recommend the raspberry vinagrette. I love the Martha's Voneyard salad at Arby's - and usually sneak this dressing in over their raspberry vinagrette because it's so much better.. But the salad itself has greens, apples, dried cranberries, cherry tomatoes and chicken. It's AWESOME!
