Favorite Guitarist(s)?

Hey!

Who are some of your favorite guitarists?

Here are my top 3:

1. Keith Richards- I don't think there would have been THE rock-n-roll sound without him.

2. Mark Knopfler- Just intricrate and beautiful guitar work

3. Bruce Springsteen- the man, besides being a superior song writer, can just work other-worldly emotive noises from his guitar!

Gotta Love LS...some of the names here I don't even know who they are.  LS is so full of musical knowledge.  I do know Brian Setzer, he's one of my favorites.  I have the live concert on DVD and if you watch it w/ surround sound it's awesome!!!!

LS has probably met most if not all of the guys above.......

And not only can Brian Setzer play great, but he has a gorgeous voice.  One of my favorite rock singers, in fact.  I've requested both of my Brians!

Thanks, Darlene!  I'm guessing you don't recognize John Fannon?  He is from New England & James Dean Bradfield is from Manic Street Preachers.

I have actually only met 3 of the above - Schenker, Schon, & Fannon.  Well, I stood next to my dad as he talked to Brian Setzer & signed his album.  I guess he looked at me for about 1.5 seconds.  Does that count?

No one's mentioned Jimmy Page?

And I have to be geeky and also add Robert Fripp.

Yngwie is awesome - a really amazing player. And I love his stage presence. I had the opportunity to work videocamera for his concert recently, and it was such a pleasure, because he totally poses, and is really fun to shoot. It's amazing that he can play so proficiently & still move around like that - he's entertaining in both ways. But personally, his playing doesn't move me. I think it's the tone and the classical vibe - I don't know. I'd prefer to hear Gary Moore hit one note and bend it for 30 seconds than to hear Yngwie hit 400 notes in that same 30 seconds.

Did you like the rest of the Eric Johnson's songs JD?

LS- I love the classical style, but my first real love was an expert classical guitar player, so it resonates in my heart.

You should.  It was one of my Dad's favorite movies.  Although it stars Ralph Macchio, don't let that turn you off.  He is really good in it, plaings a classically trained guitarist who is really into the blues.  And it takes him on a great adventure, following Robert Johnson's story, and dealing with good vs. evil.  It is just such a great movie!  Plus Jami Gertz is in it, with her hair looking fabulous!  And Steve Vai is in it too!
