New Music Weekend: SURVIVOR - Reach

Lady Strange was kind enough to provide us with the new Survivor album, so we'll be playing it for the New Music Weekend starting Friday, August 25'th.

Use this thread to let us know what you think, particularly about individual songs. Your comments will in large part help us determine which tracks if any remain on the request list once the weekend is over.

I previewed the disc in the car today and I must say, after the first five or six songs I was not impressed.

Then, the back half of the album hit, and they strung together a bunch of songs that I liked on the first listen:

ONE MORE CHANCE, REACH, SECONDS AWAY, TALKING 'BOUT LOVE (which features a different lead singer than 10 of the other 11 songs), RHYTHM OF YOUR HEART were all really good.

I gave the first half another chance after that and really liked HALF OF MY HEART too!

None of the new stuff is as good as HIGH ON YOU, THE SEARCH IS OVER or I CAN'T HOLD BACK in my opinion, but then not many bands could repeat the VITAL SIGNS album, that was their masterpiece.

Lady Strange, is that the same lead singer? I thought you said no, but it sure sounds like him to me.

I also like the fact another person takes over lead vocals on a couple songs.

It's Jimi Jameson, who I've always preferred over their original singer.  For me, the holy trinity of Survivor albums is Vital Signs, When Seconds Count & Too Hot To Sleep.  Those 2 other songs feature Frankie on lead vocals.

It IS Jami Jamison! I could have SWORN you told me he left the group! I would have bought the album immediately if I'd known it was him. I love his voice and I thought this sounded just like him! No wonder!

Oh, he did leave again - he isn't doing the tour - Robin McAuley is.

I am definately liking this album. Very good stuff! I think there will be several tracks that will stay on my MP3 player.
