I just got home from work a few minutes ago. when I went to open the door, there was a huge fuzzy green catapillar stretched across the frame and the door- one of them you dream of catching when you are a kid- sucker was almost as big as my pinky finger.


not wanting to crush it, I tried to brush it away with my key. the sucker fought me! most insects you can frighten or sho away, but this thing did not like gettin poked! so I carefully opened the door, makin sure the thing didn't get squashed.


but that doesn't mean the next person will see/ will care. and if that sucker is still there come morning, it is crow food!


I found my self speaking out loud when trying to "reason" with the thing. good god, I am tired....

I needed a snack, and I heard catipillars are a delicacy in china. it was kinda sweet.

I'm still amazed that that catapillar we put in a jar last year turned into a butterfly sitting on our living room end table. That was pretty cool.

No, I didn't.

We didn't expect it would do that in the jar. The day we caught him, he climbed up the side and attached to the bottom of the lid in the jar. He then went to work and made a cocoon. After a few days, I figured he was dead but we decided to wait. It was a little over a week and we got to see the butterfly break out of the shell.

We took him outside and let him go. He sat on our grill for a couple hours stretching his wings then flew away. Now whenever the boy sees a butterfly around our house, he's sure its the same one.

the thought did cross my mind.....I have a newly empty pickle jar here too ready to be recycled that I coulda used. but I figured this bad boy best not be messed with!

when I was about 12 we went to Vegas on a family vacation, I got a snail off the side of the building and it ate its way out of the cup I had it in. It was in my dads car somewhere and we never found it.
