I know riggs has been burnin the candle from both ends lately and has needed some r & r.  he is really the energy that keeps things humming and it can get tiring.....not the forum, but just fighting with crashing computers, RIAA worries and stuff.....it becomes like a job that doesn't pay sometimes. our summer days are numbered, and he needed to go smell the tulips. tip toe through the tulips, with riggs.

No, not a complaint whatsoever. I can sleep with the window open. This morning I woke up to thunder/lightning and I liked hearing the rain from my bed and knowing I didn't have to be up for another few hours. I wasn't tired and I just enjoyed the storm. That was nice.

Its really nice here except the smoke in the air. I really want my windows open but do I really want the smoke?

I hear ya.....so long as its a rolling distant thunder, I will sleep like a baby in the rain. I have a rain spout that runs next to my bedroom window, and the rain running through it is actually really soothing, like a trickling creek or something.

Webguy- are there any soothing sounds in your vicinity while you're sleeping? Yelping animals? Buzzing insects? Anything?

No, nothing nice here. We get a loud coal train about every 15-20 minutes. Actually, I do kind of like the clickty-clak of the actual train cars rolling through, but the horns are obnoxious.

When there is a nice Southerly breeze, we get the nice nature smells of the HUGE feedlot just outside of town.

there was a small fire between here and where we camped yesterday but it burned in an already burned area..that was one good thing. Its so smoky I couldn't see the hill where the last big fire was.

I have fond memories of sleeping over at my grandma's as a young girl. Her home was only a few down from a railroad track so at night I'd hear those loud screeches. I really didn't mind. Till this day whenever I hear them, which is not too often, I really feel like I'm back at her house- it was pleasant to hear only because I loved being there so much.

It's amazing how a sound or smell can trigger an intense memory.
