Thanks, I lived here during Hugo and did lose EVERYTHING I owned, so I know not to mess with these things. I was only 18, but when my dad moved here, he gave me almost everything from our old house, and I lost all my childhood things and my mom's stuff, stuff that no money could replace. And at 18 who has renters insurance?

Yeah one day I might find my pictures and I will post them of the devastation around here. It was not Katrina, but it was bad- billions of dollars in loss and damage- changed the landscape here too!

Nope, right here- about a mile from where I am now. People did not really evacuate back then- this was 1989, now we do, but this storm coming does not warrant that- thank God! I was in a brick home with a friend, we filled up the bathtubs and fish tanks with water and stocked up on food, but that night there was four of us. We got VERY drunk and watched the whole thing. I guess as best as you can- the storm hit at night and once the first half of the storm passed, most power went out. After the second half (the eye is calm) then ALL power was out, so we could not see the devastation. Being young and dumb, we got up the next day and tried to drive around to see the damage, but almost ran out of gas with no way to get more! But I did get some great pictures, I think they are in my hope chest.

that happens nfl season, week one!

No sir, it started getting cloudy and breezy when I came in earlier at about 7:30. I have not checked lately, but I think the storm will be here tomorrow afternoon around 2ish. I will update when I have something to say! Thanks for asking.

Dave, it is never worth messing with. I have been through plenty of false alarms and I have never regretted any actions taken. Even if it just rains a bunch and floods here like they predict, I would rather be home than out driving and trusting my kids to other people. We have not done too much to prepare- make sure the generator has gas, the cars are full and have some water and canned food in stock. Also went to Blockbuster and loaded up- hey free day off. Also after Katrina every governor is going to go above an beyind for fear of ridicule.

The storm itself is never as bad as the after effects. It brings out true character in people and that is scary. I have always seen these as God's reminders that they are just personal possessions and that our lives and communities are most important. Unfortunately LOTS of people fail that test
