Some floods in recent times, my home city was flooded last year...

We get occasional quakes/tremore but those are fairly rare as we are not on a major fault line.

I did sleep through a december 26th earth quake when I was a teeenager...mum woke me to tell me after the event

Our town was the epicentre and I think it got to about 6.5 on the Richter scale.

We also get the odd unexpected Tornado on a small scale

A couple of old ladies died in carlisle...then a man hanged himself and then another old woman died with the stress of it all

A friend I work with was in London when they had the bombings last year. I was supposed to be there but I was pregnant and couldn't travel. I've never been accross the pond. Have you, pip?

I thought that too Mz ... I haven't been over to the States but would like to one day... My partner Mark has in 2003 he came over, alone for his 40th...He wanted to avoid birthday fuss so what better way than to leave the country lol...He flew in to Dallas (he hates flying) and then had a car and his itinery included New Orleans, Graceland, Chicago, New York etc etc... He went to quite a few musical places...the buddy Holly Nuseum...and I can't remember where else. He also did the Amtrak...he checked his luggage in early, as advised and it got lost. So he arrived in Chicago (I think) several hours late, with only the clothes he stood up in and nowhere to sleep. Anyways he got his luggage back a day or two later intact....

On his last day he bought something in a shop on his credit card  (the first and only time he used that paricular card and it got cloned or something and about a couple of months after he got home ...(and I'd just moved in lol) 2 large amounts of money were removed from our account... Fortunately we got it back from the credit card company

He found some things strange...He's a veggie and found a few difficulties lol... Like the time he ordered egg and fries... They said they didn't do that... and he said " well you do ham egg and fries...I just want that but without the ham"

 

they came out shortly after and called out his order:

 

"Ham, egg and fries without the ham"

He found some places very helpful.

He arrived at the Buddy Holly Museum only to find that it was closed....When the folks found out that that day was his only chance to visit - they got the key and a guy opened it up just for him.

i don't know...maybe in a few years, i think money will be very tight soon...we're due to move and we have this flipping Italy holiday coming up too.

Mark has just taken on a second job as a "casual" - bs driving - he's done it before and does his first proper shift tomorrow
