Well, here I am at the shop again. Came in this morning to find that 2 cars in our lot were burglarized last night... a Contour that belongs to my son, and a worthess P.O.S. Taurus wagon that someone abandoned here months ago. Forunately, the only vehicles of any substantial value that were actually here... my Explorer... was locked in one of the oil pit bays, and a customer's Cadillac (out back with the others) were unharmed.

Hi Pip! Well, I went back to survey the damage... I forgot that my daughter-in-law's Explorer was back there too. Chris dropped it off last night because the transmission is going out on it. Looks like it got rummaged through as well, but Chris had left the back window open so no smashed window on that. I wonder what they were looking for? They left the little bit of cash that was sitting there and all of the CDs. Chris had removed the face plate from the stereo. The stereos in the other cars weren't messed with either.

My first two incidents were minor really, and my own fault. I seem to have left the car unlocked both times as there was no damage. the first time a waxed jacket was taken and the second time, I had come out of the hospital where i worked and threw an old bag onto the passenger seat. On top of the card was a white envelope wiyth a Christmas card in it...I then nipped inside a different building and when i came back the card had gone - I think they probably hoped there wa cash inside.
Hey, Ruby! I'm thinking it will be a good day despite the nonsense. The police officer who came out to take the report is a super nice guy. At least it wasn't the shop that got burglarized. The one car was abandoned months ago, so it doesn't mean much to us. Chris's Contour is kind of another story, but I don't think they got much if anything out of it. Bummer that the window will have to be replaced. On second blush, I'm not sure if they got into Anna's Explorer or not. When office Porter went to open the door, the alarm went off and the doors were still locked. It could well have been all that much of a mess when Chris left it.
Years ago when I lived in an apartment in Missouri, my car got broken into along with several others in the parking lot. I had some friends over visiting that night, and we suspect that when one of them left to go home, the thief got scared off. Nothing was taken from my car, but others were not so lucky.

Things are going pretty well otherwise. Chris, Anna, and the kids are going to Anna's family reunion this weekend. I hope he says out of trouble... since Anna's Explorer has transmission problems, I somewhat reluctantly agreed to let him drive my Jeep this weekend. I told him he's dead meat if anything happens to it. Kevin is doing okay. He's been trying to be extra sweet to me since my cat passed away. Don't hear much from Jeremy, but I thought we might try to get in touch with him this weekend.
How's it going for you? Is the boy getting long well in school so far?

Glad to hear things are calmer now Mema! I am not sure how the boy is, in high school you get no feedback. I am going to go through his bookbag today and try to get a clue!
I'd take no feedback as a good sign. I got plenty of feedback on my boys... mostly it was "Umm... Mrs. Bergen? Could you please come get your heathens?"

I know what you mean Mema. Earlier this year, someone was breaking into cars in our parking lot that didn't have anything in them. I wonder if they were looking for something, or just wanted to break some windows. Luckily, my car was spared, but I don't park in that area any more.
I've had a very productive morning. The living room and both bathrooms are clean. When my hubby gets up, I'll clean the bedroom, and after he does the dishes, I'll clean the kitchen. We'll probably do laundry together, and then the chores will be done. Although I washed my hands after I cleaned the bathrooms, I think I somehow got some cleaner in my cereal. It tastes funny. I need to find something else to eat.
I have some organizing of papers and things to do around here this morning, then its off to the brewers game this eve, and after that probably start watching some of that Spike Lee New Orleans documentary.
Have a good day!

Think we will be headed to the new outlet mall- more stores were set to open this weekend and the hubby and older girl have not been. I need to get my oil changed too, but I think if I bring it to Mema, I will need one when I get back!
I am feeling pretty bad, but I think it is my thyroid that is swollen, it went crazy this week again. My hair is EVERYWHERE- all over the office, the shower and broke the vacuum belt again yesterday. They have increased my meds as of Wednesday, but it usually takes a month to feel better.
We are having fall like weather around here right now and I'M LOVING IT. Gonna get dressed and head out for a nice long walk in the cool crisp air
I hope EVERYONE has a great day today!
Isn't that a nice feeling. You can go out for a nice walk, and not die in the heat. Fall weather is nice, but it just a reminder of winter on it's way. Up here in NE we're supposed to get rain and winds from Ernesto, so we'll all be inside for most of the weekend. Right now, very cloudy, slight wind outside, and I'm cleaning around the house.
Hope all is well with you all. And have a fun LOOOONNNGGG Weekend everyone!
Hello all! Well I did the first thing that I wanted to do this weekend- SLEEP IN! That felt to good. My coughing is very little, but it does flare up when I have something cold like ice cream. But at least it's going away! Hubby fixed the tractor and is now mowing the yard. After that we have to go shopping for our attire for the trip. I hate clothes shopping, so this should blow. It would be nice if it could just all come together quickly. If we are successful today, then tomorrow we will go to the Renaissance Festival! We always have a good time there.
Have a great weekend everybody!
