Yay! It works.

I am impressed with the first few pictures I took with this camera. I was about three feet from my puppy taking this shot. This was a crop and shrink, but in the full size file, you can see individual hairs. Very nice.








And my puppy is cute too.

Yes, she is very much an indoor dog. She sleeps by me at night and goes to work with me during the day. We have a kennel built in the basement that she stays in when she can't go with us, but if we're here, she's right in the middle of it. She has separation anxiety if we are not here and would tear the place apart looking for us if we didn't put her in the kennel when gone.

I'm playing with the new camera more and it is impressing me.

It is a Canon S3-IS. The best price I found, and where I got this one was at beachcamera.com

I'm looking forward to playing with the video mode. I got a 4gig SD card for it so it will record up to 30 minutes video (we don't have a decent camcorder). One of the review sites had a sample video from it and it was very clear without being jerky.

I WANT A NEW CAMERA!

I used to have a REALLY nice Pentax with about 5 different lenses and all kinds of filters and stuff. I used to really love photography. But that was before digital, and it was about a $1500 camera before my bowling ball rolled over it a few dozen times in the trunk I know, I know. WHY was an expensive camera in the trunk with a bowling ball.

I have no answer for that.

keep us informed how you like it.  i need to start shopping around for something (that is better than ok) for my daughter.  i think next trimester she has a digital photography class scheduled.

I chose this one because it has a few more features than the simple "point and shoot" models but is not as complicated as the really nice (and expensive) SLR models. It still has a full auto "point and shoot" mode for easy use when that is needed but it has some manual settings too if auto isn't getting it done.

I read a lot of reviews on it and they were all positive. They all said that it was a very good value when consdering quality and features for the price.
