COPS in Hi-Def, Really?

I can't believe it. I just watched "Cops" in High-Definition & Widescreen.

That's one of those shows I NEVER thought they'd put in Hi-Def. I mean REALLY, WHY?

The bad news is that I NEVER watch that show (I think it's just sad), but in Hi-Def I get mezmerized and will watch just about anything.

Right?!?!?

WHO ARE THESE PEOPLE!?!?!?!

The guy I just saw was being arrested for fighting in a convenience store. He had JUST gotten out of the hospital for being stabbed in the chest and was at the pharmacy picking up his prescription where he was trying to sell his percasets (sic?) to a stranger!

Then the bonehead is UPSET they're only charging him with some petty charge becasue he'll be released by morning and he wanted a few days in jail!

The moron is like 22 and prefers jail to freedom probably because he doesn't want to actually have to WORK for his own survival.

It is pretty sad when jail is more appealing than the real world

Yeesh hubby has to watch this all the time. If it isn't COPS then it is some sort of Wildest Police Videos. At some point in his life, he wanted to be a cop.

oh man I was addicted to that show like a decade ago.

Personally I think its disgusting the way the cops mug for the camera. "arrest script, take 6."

They go out of their way to film the trashiest folks too.....crackheads and stuff.

It's amazing SG!

You can COUNT the needle marks on their arms! So vivid! So clear!!!! And the 5.1 digital surround sound is really put to EXCELLENT use when you hear them utter those immortal words "Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat! I ain't been done doin' nuthin' wrong! Can I least git my shirt on?"

It really does doesn't it?!?

The day they hooked up my cable for me they showed me the dozen or so Hi-Def channels and one of them was just a nature channel. All it showed was a running stream.

I swear to God I think I sat there and watched that darn stream for an hour! It was like I was standing next to it and I was just mezmerized by it!

I've never enjoyed auto racing, but anytime I'm surfing past TNT and they have Nascar on I'm hooked until the end of the race, so VIVID, it's like I'm sitting right there in the first row. I can almost feel the heat and the little bits of ground tire rubber hitting my face as they drive by!

Amazing!

Yep, got sat hd earlier this year when the soccer world cup was on, the differance it makes to sports is unreal, its like 3d somehow. Hope we get the Baseball and NFL soon in hd in the UK that would be cool!

We get all the NFL games in hi-def and it's stunning, it's like you could walk out onto the field and play line-backer.

The only negative for NFL is that a few years ago I bought a projector. It's incredibly crisp and clear, but on a day game when the sun is shining bright I can't get the room dark enough to REALLY enjoy the image. But Monday night football? WOW! That's amazing!

Oooooooh, alright! A fellow projectionist!

I bought mine, it's 108", about two years ago and FULLY expected I'd be returning it.

The only projection TV's I'd seen had been in bars and they were always so washed out and blurry.

But I was blown away. Those things are movie-theater quality. I knew right away I was in love

I'll watch COPS if there's not much else on and the boy isn't sitting here watching tv too. I have a buddy that has watched it faithfully ever since it started. He has his VCR set to record every show just in case something comes up and he doesn't get home in time for it.

I guess you have got Sky then, I would love to have 6 hours of NFL! I only get the games on Five and they are on too late for me normally.

I got to ride with the hubby several times over the last 14 years.  It's a blast.  I don't know about other police departments around the country, but Nashville would let civilians ride as long as they signed a waiver not to hold the city liable for any problems.  It was just like an episode out of Cops but 3D hi def.  The last time I rode with him was about a year ago.  He was just a traffic officer then, so no good domestics or project problems.  But... blowing through intersections, go 70 mph down the inside lane of an interstate in rush hour traffic with blue lights screaming is a rush in and of itself.

On a smaller scale I know what you mean TG, I was a police cadet for four years in high school. We used to do ride alongs with the officers. Your right there is nothing like blowing through a red light at 70 mph when Old man Hoxy's chickens would get loose or when Mr and Mrs. Krantz's dog would be chasing the neighbors cat.

Actually I was in on a pretty good drug bust one time, I got to witness from the car and call it in.

Oooh a bust.  THat's cool!!  One of my favorites was actually on my first ride.  It was right out of a Cops episode.  It had the white trash father waving his ballbat at the shirtless white trash neighbor because he and the daughter had been getting it on.  By the time we got there, there was already dripping off the one holding the tire iron. You've seen it 100 times before on TV.  It's just better when you're there.
