I don't think these men were famous religious leaders because of their GREATER faith in God.  They may have STARTED out as men who loved God and wanted to spread His word, BUT...I think they were charasmatic men who accepted the adulation of their congregation, got big heads, became materialistic with their well paying positions, and liked the power and prestige that came with their jobs.

When someone lets pride, selfishness, and greed take over the lives, they are RIPE for the picking as far as Satan is concerned.

Part of their problems though is due to the fact that people are putting their faith in their preachers and religious leaders instead of God or Jesus.  When those men are shown to be sinful and often WORSE than the ordinary Joe, those people who put mere men on pedestals lose their faith all together.

It makes me sick that Christianity is represented by the likes of those men.  People who don't have a spiritual relationship with God look at the TV and are arded by the likes of men professing to do miracles, selling holy water, and ALWAYS showing their 1-800 number at the bottoem with signs that they take Visa, Mastercard, and Discover.  I'm sure Satan is rubbing his hands together in glee at his success.

PS:  I've noticed I can't use the words K-I-D-S, or - - - in my postings.  I am sure now it must be the child-proofing software we installed.

What an idiot.  We can add "Liar" to his list of credits now.  He's claiming he had a "Massage" only and that he bought the meth but didn't use it.   P u l e e e e e z e !!

That's as comical as Clinton's "I didn't inhale" and Kerry's "It was just a bad joke about Bush".

Why, oh why must they lie?  This would probably have been a much smaller story if he had just said "Yep. I did it. My bad. I'll resign." and left it at that.  The fact alone that he immediately resigned indicated that he knew there was something to be exposed.  An innocent man would have at least tried to stick it out, knowing the truth would eventually come forward.

Yeah, riiiiiiiiight... he threw the meth away... repetitively.  AND it was JUST a massage... in a hotel room... once a month...from the same male prostitute. (screech, screech, screech) Oh, SORRY! That was the winged monkeys that just flew out my back-side!

If you look at any man to learn about God, you will be let down.

Very true.  I get lots of funny looks from people when they ask what church I attend and I reply, "I don't." Generally I will go on to explain that while I do believe in God, I don't believe in organized religion.  I don't think any of them have it right.

I've seen too many cases of these religious leaders who spend lots of time telling you what a bad person you are and how miserable your eternity will be, doing horrible things to themselves and other people just like they preach against.  Yes, they are just people... but as was stated earlier... they put themselves in a position of being a moral paragon.  In my view, don't sing it... BRING IT. If you are gonna tell me what an evil, rotten, wrong-doer I am, best you be one seriously straight arrow.

I fully agree with you, Mema. I'm not downplaying what any of these "leaders" have done. Any "leader" should be held to a higher standard no matter what they are "leading".

It's amazing that they always think they can get away with it. I can't even fathom how someone could bring themselves to that level of hypocracy.

Well, I just hope you guys don't still hold police officers to a higher standard.  As I'm sure Darlene can attest.  They are definitely FLAWED.  I always said hubby should personalize his license plate with "ABVTHLW"-  Above the Law.

My brother is a county cop.  I know better too. He gave me a disapproving look when I showed him that I got my motorcycle license. He has a Ninja himself, but lacks the actual license to ride it on the street... not that this stops him.

One would like to think at least the police commissioner would be an upstanding figure, but it seems like I'm always hearing about the local ones getting DUI's or popped for beating their wives.

I think a lot of cops go into the job with the right attitude, but after years of seeing what goes on, they get stupid, greedy or just fed up!

It could be. Or it could be that not unlike the politicians and mega-religious leaders they just get corrupted by the perception of power.

Actually, most of the cops I know are really decent people. Some of them get that 'cop mentality' going for them, but for the most part they are good people trying to do their jobs and protect the community.

my hubby was idealistic when he first went on the force.  He really resented the old fat guys that told him that doing the minimum was the best way to stay out of trouble.  Sixteen years later, and he's one of the old farts now.  A couple of frivolous lawsuits and you just get burned out.  He just wants to do his time, get his pension, and move on.

I think the worst part is that hubby thought of himself as a great guy.  He was comparing himself to the society that he arrested and that we see on cops.  I, on the other hand, was comparing him to the men in my church and resenting the fact that he wasn't there sitting beside the s and me, but sitting at home drinking beer and doing whatever he felt like.

P.S.  You know how when cops are driving in pairs, they play off one another.  One's the good cop, other the bad cop.  Mine always got to be the bad one.  He's always had that Sean look and attitude.  When we first met, I thought he was the coolest thing!!
