LOS ANGELES, California (AP) -- Neil Patrick Harris is gay and wants to quell any rumors to the contrary.

"(I) am quite proud to say that I am a very content gay man living my life to the fullest," Harris tells People magazine's Web site.

The 33-year-old actor said he was motivated to disclose his sexuality because of recent "speculation and interest in my private life and relationships."

Harris stars on the CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother." He started on TV as a teen, playing the namesake doctor on the series "Doogie Howser, M.D."

Sorry, not shocked.  Not that I've got good gaydar or anything.  That one just sort of speaks for itself. 


Now if Keanu comes out, I'll be devastated.

man I think I watched one doogie howzer ever and yea that one set off the gaydar. Or maybe the feeling after the show was done was "that show is pretty gay"....lol don't remember. no surprise. just like with that backstreet boy.

I don't know the David Geffen story.  I had heard he did gay as a teen but I prefer to put that in the same category as Richard Gere and the gerbil.  I like to live in my world of rose colored glasses, where all politicians are public servants and all religious leaders are pious and devout.  And... all my studly men in Hollywood are straight and just waiting to find that right before they settle down.

Hmm, Neil Patrick Harris, never really made me think "wow, he is sooooooo gay". I can't say I'm suprised, but I guess I never saw him do anything that made me wonder either.
